Mission accomplished.&nbsp;<a href="https://berkshire.muddystilettos.co.uk/eat-out/review-the-pot-kiln-frilsham/">The Pot Kiln</a>&nbsp;is a destination dining hotspot if you’re hankering after something cosy and comforting. Recently changing from their Basque-inspired tapas offering, now you can find a lineup of English pub classics &#8211; still with the added flair of being cooked over their grill in the open kitchen. All that and a cracking wine list. Obvs. Its rural location offers some of the best views for miles around &#8211; sweeping valley vistas and cow grazing idly nearby. Get yourself suntrap terrace-side and soak it all up. There are boutique rooms if you want to sleep over too.</p>

<p>You couldn&#8217;t get much closer to the water without getting wet. The Dundas Arms sits prettily perched on the River Kennet in the lovely village of Kintbury (one of our <a href="https://berkshire.muddystilettos.co.uk/best-places-to-live/kintbury-best-places-to-live-berkshire/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Best Places to Live 2026</a> FYI). Quite frankly, it&#8217;s the perfect destination when you need to escape the daily grind. Spend a lazy afternoon messing about by the river before enjoying good gastropub food – think beer battered cod and triple cooked chips or a proper Sunday roast. There’s a huge garden and a river-facing terrace which is a stunner.</p>

<p>About as close to a quintessential chocolate box village pub as it gets. The sunny garden at&nbsp;The Beehive overlooks the village cricket green and is&nbsp;<em>the</em>&nbsp;spot to kick back with a cocktail (hello The Beehive Honey Martini). Safe to say this place is preeeetty popular on match day. My recommendation? Get some nosh to go with it. The food here is excellent. The pub was recently taken over by the folk at The Belgian Arms in Holyport, so brace for something gastronomically brilliant.</p>

<p>Table with a view, madam? When it looks this pretty, it would be rude not to. The Belgian Arms in Holyport, who have previously won Best Destination Pub in the Muddy Awards, is set back from the village green with a great view of the fairytale pond. In the warmer months, expect a proper suntrap. It’s a relaxed gastropub loved by locals and known for serving fresh and seasonal British food that’s beautifully cooked, a great selection of wines, and a really good pint.</p>

<p>Okay, so you may have to wrestle with the coach loads of tourists that flock to this neck of the woods, but kick back with a pint here and you&#8217;ll be rewarded with stonking views of the King&#8217;s front door. Windsor Castle is mere steps away at the Queen Charlotte &#8211; located on one of Windsor&#8217;s prettiest cobbled streets. The flags are flying, royal guards are marching, and you&#8217;re in prime position to soak it all in. On the menu find a simple lineup of all-day nosh. But really, you are paying for the view here.</p>

<p>How is this for a riverside pub with a view? Dine in&nbsp;<em>Wind In The Willows</em>&nbsp;territory – the very stretch of water EH Shepard got his inspo for the book illustrations. The emphasis here is on relaxed dining. Kick back on the terrace and enjoy hearty food that pulls on all the comfort strings while boats and rowers pootle by. I&#8217;ve had the baked camembert with roast garlic, rosemary, hot honey, and warm sourdough in the sun before and I practically went to heaven and back. Naturally, a cocktail never goes amiss.</p>
