Run by husband-and-wife dream team, Wesley and Francesca, despite only opening in 2022, the Maidenhead restaurant has already made tidal waves, firmly establishing itself as a heavyweight on the local foodie scene. It shines bright on the Michelin Guide and for good reason. Expect an ingredient-led, regularly changing menu of innovative and delicate dishes where flavour is king. With few more than 10 tables, it’s incredibly intimate with the open kitchen taking centre stage in the restaurant where you’ll find the lovely Wesley cooking up a storm.

Milaanj at The Beehive in White Waltham is one of the best new gastropubs in the UK having opened in June 2024, and quite frankly, I haven’t stopped banging on about it. Offering a funfair fusion of global and British gastropub classics, masterfully elevated with rich Indian flavours, pretty plates are what they do best. The place is a magnet for destination diners seeking something a cut above your usual gastropub fare. The location is quaint, service first-class, and there’s a bar area for casual drinkers and passing dog walkers too. Psst, make sure you try the lamb kebab. Actual heaven.

Omakase at Hurley House Hotel is one of Maidenhead’s best kept secrets with either the 12-course Lotus or 16-course Dragon tasting menu on the cards. The chic bar fits up to five people as Chef Suren handcrafts a series of dishes from top notch ingredients (Wagyu beef and bluefin tuna) right before your eyes. An absolute belter of a dining experience.

All hail gastropub glory! The Crown at Bray is a super-relaxed, down-to-earth gastropub that dons two prestigious AA Rosettes. Inside, you’ll be playing cosy pub bingo: low beams (ouch! Mind your head), roaring fire, exposed brick, dark oak furniture and a garden to boot the kids into. Hospitality is warm, and the Sunday roast is lovely. Gourmet pizza (with fresh homemade dough proved for at least 24 hours), fresh pasta, and all your classic fare is on the menu at Storia, and done right. Design mavens will appreciate the interior goodies too. The velvet backed chairs, herringbone flooring, and gaudy prints are chef’s kiss.

It’s a small-plate, grazing kind of situation with a vast list of lip-smacking dishes to send the tastebuds into overdrive. Now that’s amore.

Berkshire is spoilt rotten with 3 of them within its borders with the Maidenhead spot the perfect option for casual all-day dining fit for socialising, relaxing, and working.
