<p>The stars are aligning for The Crown at Burchetts Green, now sitting pretty in the latest Michelin Guide. Owned by chef-patron Dominic Chapman (who also runs the much-loved <a href="https://www.thebeehivewhitewaltham.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Beehive</a> in White Waltham) since 2022. Michelin gushed: &#8220;The rewarding, flavoursome dishes – like the delicious potted chicken and duck liver parfait with fig chutney – are a perfect match for the warm and comforting surroundings.” Dominic serves beautiful food in a real English pub and he’s backed by family support &#8211; his wife Helena and sister-in-law Alicia, both experienced in the trade, are front-of-house. Grab you roomy pants, and get booking. This place is going to get busy.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s been a labour of love, but finally chef-owners Nandana and Sharat have opened the doors of their new Caversham restaurant. <a href="https://www.clayskitchen.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Clay’s Hyderabadi Kitchen</a> isn’t new to Reading foodies but has moved and grown in size. Don’t worry if you’re already a fan – the restaurant continues to serve delicious Hyderbadi cuisine so loved by locals and restaurant critics alike but now there’s also private dining, a buzzy open kitchen for small plates and snacks plus a bar serving locally brewed beers. There are plans afoot for Hyderabadi-style weekend brunches and afternoon tea with a Clay’s twist.&nbsp;</p>



<p>If you’re reading this wishing you lived nearer Caversham, there’s good news, Clay’s delivers nationwide (yes, nationwide!). The food arrives vacuum-packed, ready to heat at home. Delivery day is Thursday but the food will keep for 48 hours if you fancy a weekend treat. Described as “punchy cooking, cult success” by <em>The Observer’s</em> Jay Rayner and “blisteringly beautiful” by <em>The Telegraph’s</em> William Sitwell, book a table or get ordering, stat!</p>

<p>New chef alert! A Muddy favourite gastropub <a href="https://thegreatshefford.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Great Shefford</a> has a new chief in the kitchen, James Byles. James is hard at work on a new menu, but as a taster, he trained at Rick Stein’s in Cornwall and likes to cook simple, flavourful food using seasonal and local ingredients. If James seems familiar, he did a stint at The Great Shefford last year and was recently head chef at the Broad Face in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. Welcome to Berkshire James &#8211; Muddy has the roomy pants on standby to sample your dishes!</p>

<p>After 12 years of culinary creativity, <a href="https://linktr.ee/hestonblumenthalteam" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Heston Blumenthal’s</a> relationship with Waitrose is drawing to a close – although not before the arrival of the <a href="https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/heston-from-waitrose-the-chocolate-dabbit/893605-794012-794013" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Chocolate Dabbit</a> for Easter (is it a duck or is it a rabbit? Don’t take too long deciding, bet it’s delicious either way!). Rumour has it, Heston will launch his own at home food range. Watch this space!</p>

<p>Nothing half-baked about Crowthorne&#8217;s new artisan bakery and café. <a href="https://www.ubakery.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">U.Bakery</a> officially opens on Sat 11 Mar and you’re going to be spoilt. Using traditional and the best seasonal ingredients, the bakers will create hand-crafted breads and pastries. Like bread, like potato? Try the sourdough with white potato, covered in poppy seeds, which give it an extra crunch and the potato apparently lengthens the bread’s life. And good luck trying to resist the babka, a sweet braided cake made from croissant dough with dark chocolate filling. It&#8217;s fast becoming the latest morning hangout for coffee and cinnamon roll. The boss won&#8217;t even notice your not there.</p>

But founder Romilla Arber is spreading her wings, launching a new coffee shop at Tally Ho Farm in Winkfield – with show-stopping views of the Berkshire countryside. More than just a place to grab a coffee, it promises to be an oasis of relaxation, where you can kickback with a cuppa, pastries, porridge light lunches with an Argentinean flavour. <p>It all started with the Barista Bean converted horse box and now <a href="https://www.facebook.com/cupofrosiecoffeebar/?ref=page_internal" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cup of Rosie</a> has opened its second café, this time in Windsor. It&#8217;s perfectly positioned opposite the castle, so a curtsey for owner and chief baker, Louise Petley, is optional but appreciated. Louise opened her first coffee shop last years at Easthampstead Park in Bracknell and has gone from strength to strength ever since. Specialising in freshly baked cakes and locally roasted coffee, you’ll get a warm welcome in both locations. Children are welcome too with a special play area in the Bracknell café. Now, which slice of cake to try first?</p>
