<p>Deep breaths&#8230; the school holidays are coming. Which means endless weeks of trying to entertain the kids without spending approximately the GDP of a small nation. Trust us, we get it. The good news? One of Berkshire&#8217;s most-loved family attractions has just announced a whole season of summer savings. <a href="https://wellingtoncountrypark.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Wellington Country Park</a>, just outside Reading, is reducing online ticket prices from <strong>now until 1 Sep</strong>, and introducing new group discounts for families and friends visiting in groups of three, four or five. Doing the maths, the savings stack up fast.</p>



<p>But that&#8217;s not all. Children&#8217;s meals are getting cheaper too, meaning less meltdowns over who gets the last chip and a few extra quid for the inevitable gift shop bribery. If you have an annual pass, you&#8217;ll also get your additional 10% saving on already reduced prices. Winning.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;ve never been to Wellington Country Park, think less hectic theme park, more wholesome countryside escape where little ones can run free range across the 350 acres of parkland and go nature spot at the stunning 35-acre lake. Designed for children up to eight, there&#8217;s room to climb, splash, explore and generally wear themselves out while you soak up the fresh air. Head down to the animal farm where there are daily interactive animal activities, including meet and feeding sessions with goats, pigs, alpacas, ponies, and more. All aboard for the miniature railway (a firm favourite) for a gentle tour through the park&#8217;s picturesque surroundings too.</p>

<p>If it&#8217;s an absolute scorcher, little ones can cool off in the splash zone (pack your cossie!) or have at it across multiple epic playgrounds, tackle giant climbing frames, whizz down zip wires, and bounce away on the jumping pillow. And no, we&#8217;re not done yet. Budding Lando Norris&#8217; can get behind the wheel of pintsized automated jeeps and whizz around the track. There&#8217;s mini golf, an adventure play trail, dino trail, sensory playroom, plus sandpits and water play. That&#8217;s without mentioning the countless woodland walks, nature trails, and picnic spots. Phewww. You&#8217;d never get bored here.</p>

<p>If your household is currently living through the dinosaur phase, <a href="https://wellingtoncountrypark.co.uk/whats-on/dino-takeover/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dino Takeover</a> will have your mini dino buffs in Jurassic heaven. Between <strong>1 &#8211; 3 August</strong>, the park will be overrun with predators, featuring live shows, themed photoshoots, and ranger training. The fun doesn&#8217;t stop there. Budding fossil hunters can get stuck into the Dino Dig Site where they&#8217;ll unearth hidden fossils, learn all about prehistoric creatures and get stuck into hands-on discovery play. Meanwhile, junior adventurers can sign up for Ranger Training, learning how to care for dinosaurs before proudly collecting their Ranger Certificate. Educational? Absolutely. But shhh &#8211; don&#8217;t tell the kids. They&#8217;ll be far too busy living out their Jurassic dreams.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-welly-park-s-big-weekender">Welly Park&#8217;s Big Weekender</h3>



<p>Pfft, who needs Glastonbury? Brand-new for 2026, <a href="https://wellingtoncountrypark.co.uk/whats-on/welly-parks-big-weekender/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Welly Park&#8217;s Big Weekender</a> (<strong>14 &#8211; 16 August</strong>) has all the ingredients of a brilliant British festival, just with fewer soggy tents, more snack breaks, and a considerably earlier bedtime. Little festival-goers can dance their socks off at the Silent Disco, catch live acts and headline performances on the Main Stage, decorate their own festival wristbands and bounce between play zones packed with games and sensory fun. Meanwhile, parents can embrace the laid-back summer atmosphere from a bean bag or deckchair, cocktail&#8230; sorry, mocktail&#8230; in hand, courtesy of The Wellington Arms. Add in the Splash Zone, Animal Farm, adventure playgrounds and all the usual park favourites, and this will probably be the happiest festival you&#8217;ll attend all summer.</p>
