Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Base at Greenham

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition is back at The Base Greenham (27 February – 26 April), on loan from the Natural History Museum, and it’s celebrating 61 lovely years. The standard, as ever, is jaw-dropping. Until the end of April see photographs showcasing Earth’s extraordinary diversity and highlighting the fragility of wildlife on our planet. An invaluable lesson in appreciation.

Go Ape, Bracknell

Aaaaarraaaagh! If you’ve got a mix of ages to entertain it’s time to get high on life at Go Ape Bracknell – a forest adventure for all ages that will test your balance, bravery and dignity. There’s a 1hr Junior Tree Top Adventure (suitable for kids 1m+) with wobbly bridges, intricate crossings and a zip wire finale. Fancy something more challenging? Bucklebury Farm, Bucklebury

As far as days out go, Muddy Award winner for Best Family Attraction 2025 Bucklebury Farm is way up there. The farm is home to rare breed Berkshire pigs, donkeys, goats, alpacas, and Shetland ponies, with 74 acres of countryside for your kids to run riot without losing them. Phew. Feed the animals, tackle the outdoor assault course, bounce around on the inflatable pillow, whizz down the zipwire, and head to the indoor soft play. During February half term (16 – 20 Feb) they have lots going on including soft play, crafts, cookie decorating, and a Valentine’s Disco.

LEGOLAND, Windsor

If you’ve got a couple of days to fill, let LEGOLAND Windsor take the strain. It’s packed with stuff for kids of all ages to enjoy, from the epic rollercoasters to the giant LEGO Brick City, interactive activities, and Adventure Golf. Always a guaranteed good time is Brick Days, on 14 – 23 Feb, plus brand-new events for their very special 30th birthday celebrations which include new shows, characters, and a giant 8 foot LEGO birthday cake. Yes, really.

It’s half term, so we’re all in need of a bit of a laugh. Thankfully, Bridget Christie is ready to provide the goods. The creator and star of Channel 4’s The Change talks kidney stones, stray cats, and an eye-themed fetish in this brand-new show, suitable for teens 14+.

Pancake Day, Cobbs Farm Shop, Hungerford

Hallelujah! Pancake Day (the best day of the year FYI) falls slapbang in the middle of February half term. You’ll find us stuffing back stacks at the brilliant Cobbs Farm Shop café in Hungerford (there’s also one in Englefield) where they have an all-day pancake menu including nutella and brownie, mixed berry cheesecake, and maple and bacon. Yum. Make sure to drop by the Playbarn so they can let off some steam afterwards. On Tue 16 – 21 Feb.

Beale Park, Pangbourne

If they are looking to tap into their wild side, check out the animal experiences on offer at Beale Park for a variety of ages. Get up close and personal with tapirs, carnivores, lemurs, capybaras, meerkats, and more. There’s 160 wildlife species and 350 acres to explore, plus a miniature railway too. They will have the chance to meet sloths this February half term – included in your ticket price.

Terrazzo Earring Workshop, Base at Greenham

Channel their inner fashionista and pack them off on this fabulous terrazzo jewellery making class where they’ll be armed with the technique to create two of their very own pairs of earrings. It’s £30 with all materials included and takes place on Sat 14 Feb. If not, teens will love creating their own Jar Terrarium on 21 Feb.

Disney and Pixar Hoppers Trail, Basildon Park

In case you didn’t know, a brand-new Disney Pixar flick called Hoppers is set to drop in March, and National Trust hottie Basildon Park are firmly getting behind the celebrations. The ‘hop into the wild’ family trail will see a self-guided tour including storytelling and outdoor play. Collect your discovery passport, explore the animal kingdoms, and most importantly, unleash your wild side. It’s aimed at children aged 6-11 and is totally free with your admission ticket. On 14 Feb – 8 Mar.

Children’s Pizza Making Course, Honesty’s Cookery School, Newbury

Cheese and carbs? Honestly, is there really any better food than pizza. Answer: no. Get hands on with the Children’s Pizza Making Course at Honesty’s Cookery School near Newbury (19 Feb) where kids will make and shape out the dough, choose their toppings, and create their own masterpiece in time to take home for lunch. Get your craft on at Windsor Castle for their half term activities, themed on The Year of the Fire Horse (14 – 22 Feb). Horses are a major deal around these parts. Fun fact: there is a Royal Mews at Windsor Castle where the horses are stabled when the Royal Family go riding at Windsor. During your visit, you’ll also be able to see The Dream Horse – a beautifully crafted sculpture made from recycled materials from Ascot Racecourse by more than 60 young people.

Snowdrops, Welford Park

Prepare to be dazzled. Welford Park arguably has the finest natural display of snowdrops in the UK. It’s the home of The Great British Bake Off tent, and is rolling out the white carpet again in 2026. The Norman monks planted the snowdrops here to decorate their Church for the feast of Candlemas and also for medicinal uses. Do not miss the chance to visit until 1 Mar, 11am-5pm. You might need to refuel and defrost after your stroll, so head to Welford Park’s Tea Tent for light bites.

Lark Rise to Candleford, The Watermill Theatre, Bagnor

Lark Rise to Candleford is fluttering into The Watermill Theatre (6 Feb – 14 Mar) and it’s basically a love letter to growing up, growing on, and knowing when it’s time to stretch your wings. This is Lark Rise, home to young Laura and her warm, wonderful family. Safe, familiar, comforting… and quietly too small. Because Laura wants more. Movie Cars, The Lexicon, Bracknell

Beep, beep! Some pretty iconic cars are rolling into town this February half term in Berkshire. I’m talking the Batmobile Tumbler, Bumblebee from Transformers, and Disney’s Cars characters to name a few. They will be dotted around the shopping centre from Sat 14 to Sun 22 Feb, and for a £1 donation, at certain times you’ll even be able to go inside one of the three Disney cars. Pretty cool, huh?

Crafternoons at Renegade Brewery, Yattendon

An activity that guarantees a bit of peace and quiet AND some alcohol for the parents? Sign. Me. Up. Yattendon’s Renegade Brewery have Kids Crafternoons running 16 – 18 Feb, including rock painting, figure painting and colour your own bag, which are, checks notes, absolutely free. Naturally you’ll be grabbing a beer and a bite while you’re at it.

Glow Paddle, Dinton Pastures Country Park

Every reason to shine at Dinton Pastures Country Park on 21 Feb for the magnificent Glow Paddle. Twinkle your way across the water as you take in the breathtaking nighttime vistas. Suitable for 8+ and those of all abilities. Tickets £30 for adults, £20 for kids. This one looks utterly fantastic, if you can face the cold that is.
