Dive in! 16 incredible swimming pools world-wide

Make a splash on Instagram in one of these amazing swimming pools, from infinity-edged stunners to private plunge pools with a view.

Travel porn alert! Beach is beautiful and sea is splendid, but there’s something about a sensational swimming pool on holiday that makes us swoon. Couple it with a bar serving decent cocktails and some comfy cabanas and we’re in heaven. Here’s Muddy Travel’s pick of the best…

Address Beach Resort, Dubai

Address Beach Resort Dubai

Fancy swimming in the world’s highest infinity pool? Recently opened Address Beach Resort lays claim to the title, with a dazzling pool more than 293 metres in the air and boasting amazing views of the city skyline, including Palm Jumeriah.

Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi Resort, Maldives

Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi Resort,

This luxurious resort has two claims to fame: the longest infinity pool and the biggest Jacuzzi in the archipelagos. Its pool stretches the width of the tiny island and overlooks the coralium – the resort’s coral regeneration project. Fun fact: Sirru Fen Fushi means ‘secret water island’, and it sure lives up to the name as its 112 villas come with their own private pools.

Katikies,  Santorini, Greece

Katikies, Greece

One of the coolest boutique hotels in Greece just happens to also have one of the sexiest pools. We’d honeymoon in this white-washed haven on the south-west coast quicker than you can say, “Aperol spritz, please”.

Cap Rocat, Mallorca

A Muddy Travels’ Med favourite, this former military fort has lookout points converted into luxurious bedrooms and private pools carved out of the cliff-face…puts Grand Designs in the shade.

La Vela Saigon Hotel, Vietnam

There are rooftop pools and then there is this oasis, 27 floors up with panoramic views of Saigon, an island with palm trees and a handy sky bar. After a day’s sightseeing what could be better than diving in then relaxing with a sundowner on a lounger? Nothing, that’s what.

Gran Hotel La Florida, Barcelona

An oldie but a goodie. The hotel dates back to the 1920s and sits high on a hill above Barcelona (it takes about 20 minutes to reach by taxi from the centre) and its pool, gardens and rooms have unbelievable views of the city and sea below. Muddy Travel’s has been several times and can confirm it’s unforgettable.

Amangiri, Utah, USA

Amangiri Utah

Check out this sleek sandstone hideaway in the heart of the Navajo desert, with a swimming pool built around the base of a rock at its heart. Other wow factors include the incredible spa, minimalist suites and canvas pavilions at Camp Sarika.

Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, France

Hotel du Cap eden roc

Jet, set, go! Chic pool on the French Riviera which belongs to a legendary hotel, where the likes of Ernest Hemingway, Picasso and Elizabeth Taylor have checked in. We love the fact the head pool attendant will give swimming lessons, while waiters magically appear poolside to ensure your glass is never less the half full.

COMO Shambhala Estate, Bali

Not all infinity pools are created equal, some are hidden deep within lush jungle, like this pool at wellbeing sanctuary COMO Shambhala, where Ayurveda, acupuncture, reflexology and yoga are on the menu alongside refreshing dips.

10 Hotel Indigo, Hong Kong Island

Hotel Indigo Hong Kon

Psst…high above HK is a cantilevered glass-bottomed infinity pool and Skybar which those in the know seem keen to keep to themselves, but we’re letting you know because sharing is caring. Guest rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows and restaurant Cafe Post serves local favourites like Dai Pai Dong (street noodles).

11 Thanda Island, Tanzania

As glamorous as you’d expect the swimming pool of a private, exclusive-use retreat off the coast of Tanzania to be. Guests also have access to a library, dining area, gym and the surrounding island marine reserve. Which is nice.

12 Monastero Santa Rosa Hotel & Spa, Amalfi, Italy

Not a bad view, eh? Perched on a cliff edge, this iconic hotel and pool is an Instagram sensation and it’s easy to see why – the blue sky, pool and sea blend so beautifully photos look unreal.

13 Ritz Carlton, Istanbul, Turkey

Err, how’s this for sensational design? Another knock-out city hotel pool, with views across the Turkish capital and Bosphorus.

14 1 Hotel Brooklyn, New York

As if a trip to Manhattan weren’t exciting enough, now you can also check into this Brooklyn beauty with views across to the Big Apple and a rooftop bar for cocktails and tasty bites too. This is Muddy’s kind of sightseeing.

15 Sun Gardens Dubrovnik, Croatia

Sn Gardens Dubrovnik

Families are welcome to splash around in the hotel’s circular pool by the ocean’s edge, after which it’s time to grab an ice cream (or maybe something a little stronger for the adults) from the Sunset Bar & Grill.

16 Passalacqua, Lake Como, Italy

Recently opened hotel that’s causing a stir thanks to its magnificent gardens which include this lovely lakeside pool. Throw in an aperitivo bar made from a converted solarium and we can think of worse places to be at sunset this summer.
