<p>Muddy loves a travel tipple, so when we heard&nbsp;<a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.worlds50bestbars.com/list/1-50" target="_blank">The World’s 50 Best Bars</a>&nbsp;were announced recently it was only, you know, right and proper to investigate. Voted for by 650 industry insiders and cocktail experts across the globe, the result is an impressive list of stylish watering holes that would make a very exciting (not to mention long and expensive) bar crawl.&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">1&nbsp;<a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://paradiso.cat/en/" target="_blank">Paradiso</a>, Barcelona&nbsp;</h2>

<p>This Mediterranean-style speakeasy is effortlessly cool – entry is through a freezer door in a pastrami bar! Once inside there’s a Dali-esque curved wooden bar and ceiling to admire and a very inventive cocktail menu to work your way through – try On Fire, a sharing milk punch cocktail, with bourbon, oloroso sherry, tahini, sweet potato and smoked milk. Served in a clear, round dish, with garnishes created in the Paradiso lab to represent humankind’s ancestors sitting around a fire (seriously), the cocktail even uses a laser to create a flame which smokes the Jerez wine. All Bar One this is not.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The second best bar in the world for the second year in a row has to be worth a visit, right? You’ll find T+E out east in Old Street and it’s double trouble: Elementary is street side (drop by for a signature One Sip Martini), while Tayēr is more of a stay all evening, industrial-looking affair with an island bar and complex cocktails.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Another Barcelona bar in the top three? Clearly Catalonia is the place to head for cocktails this year. Sips slips onto the list thanks to a reputation for inventive cocktails, like the primordial served in a hand-shaped cup. The pastel pink and green decor is mighty pretty too.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A legendary hangout that’s been on The World’s 50 Best list since 2014. Cocktail connoisseurs flock here, its mixologists are the best in the city and it’s still the place to be on a Friday night – order a Margarita al Pastor&nbsp;and seafood tostadas for the win.</p>

<p>Oooh la la. No reservations needed at this cosy cocktail bar in the third arrondissement, which flags up its ‘farm-to-glass’ model – think seasonal ingredients for drinks, like carrot, chamomile and citrus, supplied by local producers. And yes, it does have a red door.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Choose to hang out in a front room that serves fast-paced punchy cocktails like the #1 (tequila, white cranberry, lavender, cacao and amaro), or slink into the elegant backroom where food appears on the menu as drink, think mango sticky rice (mango rum, sticky rice pu’erh, tea wakame and cold brew coconut).&nbsp;Mind blown.</p>

<p>The Spanish city’s third bar on the list? Ok from now on it’s typed BAR-celona. This dive bar lies in the city’s characterful El Raval and serves ridiculously good cocktails in a relaxed, dancing on tables kinda atmosphere. *Books flights to Barcelona immediately*.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Classy, elegant, and previously number one on the list. Turn up, order a signature Martini served from a bespoke trolly, and toast yourself for having the good taste to hang out there.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A Japanese dive bar in Manhattan sounds intriguing. Drawing from Asian influences, highballs such as the Slowpitch Paloma (tequila, Pocari Sweat, Thai chili, lime zest) headline the menu. Not that it’s all about drinks, there are light bites too. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Spread across three floors in a stunning, once decrepit, mansion building, this is Colombia’s only entry on the list but it sure is a good one. The ground floor is the heart of the operation (loud music, mucho dancing, progressive cocktail list), one floor above international classics are given a Colombian twist and there’s a great rooftop too, with yet another unique drinks list. Hic.</p>
