<p>Sorry but I&#8217;m doing it. I&#8217;m saying it. Here it comes. CHRISTMAS! It&#8217;s never too early to get in the festive spirit and over at The Hexagon in Reading, thoughts are turning full panto mode. Oh, oh, we&#8217;ve got goss. New for this year and for the first time ever, the theatre production is going digital. You heard that right. In the pipeline, we can expect a fully digital set for this year&#8217;s show <em><a href="https://whatsonreading.com/cinders" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cinderella</a></em> (starting <strong>7 Dec &#8211; 5 Jan</strong> FYI). Steve Boden, Director of Imagine Theatre, gives us the inside scoop:</p>



<p>&#8220;The Hex is such a great venue, and with the redevelopment that&#8217;s going on over the next few years, the panto is developing and modernising with it. It&#8217;s going to be an enormous show this year, and for the first time ever we are having huge, digital LED video walls that will help tell the story of <em>Cinderella</em> in a much more immersive and magical way through animated and ever-changing backdrops,&#8221; he explains.</p>



<p>&#8220;Audiences can expect all the things they know and love from Justin Fletcher and Paul Morse, including slapstick comedy and lots of interaction. But there will also be exciting things audiences have never seen before. Expect an incredible transformation scene, plus a new surprise routine or two.&#8221;</p>



<p>&#8220;Panto has always moved with the times so this is just another example of us doing just that. Plus, <em>Cinderella</em> is all about transformation and magic so it&#8217;s the perfect show for it. We&#8217;re just so excited and we can&#8217;t wait to show people this Christmas,&#8221; Steve says.</p>

<p>A celebrated chef has <em>just</em> kicked open the doors to his brand new restaurant located on Peascod Street in Windsor. Chef Bradley Green is no stranger to receiving accolades and awards for his high quality cooking in the world of fine dining. His five star Lord Bute Hotel and Restaurant only opened last year, quickly earning two AA Rosettes for culinary excellence. But the fact he was chosen to cater at the Royal Berkshire Polo Club for the then Prince Charles and Harry a few years back says it all. </p>



<p>His new restaurant, <a href="http://greenskitchenbar.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Green&#8217;s Restaurant and Cocktail Bar</a>, will offer more of what he&#8217;s good at &#8211; culinary flair and a unique blend of contemporary cuisine with a nod to classic British flavours. Expect seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, with seating for 200. </p>

<p>Not too long ago, we were practically inconsolable at the <a href="https://berkshire.muddystilettos.co.uk/things-to-do/latest-news/news-berkshire-restaurant-closures/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">news</a> that The Dew Drop Inn, run by Michelin starred chef Simon Bonwick had shut up shop. Wipe away those tears, lady. Simon has secured a new gig just down the road at <a href="https://bucksoxon.muddystilettos.co.uk/eat-out/restaurants/review-the-oarsman-marlow/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Oarsman</a> in Marlow where he&#8217;ll be taking over the bijou upstairs space from 5 Sep on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday nights along with the last Thursday of the month at Lunch too. The setting will be a social affair, with one big communal table for up to 14 guests which can be booked as couples and groups too. As for food? A set menu soirée offering all the magic of a lighter version of Simon&#8217;s classical food with 8 courses to boot. See you there.</p>



<p>After all that scoffing, the treadmill will have my name on it. Good job there&#8217;s a new fitness studio called <a href="https://www.instagram.com/liftpangbourne/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lift</a> soon opening in beautiful Pangbourne. Not much information yet, but watch this space.</p>

On the call sheet this year for a series of illuminating talks are Salman Rushdie, Ian McEwan, Tom Holland, Elif Shafak, and Emily Maitlis just to name a few. <p>A <em>Peep Show</em> themed marathon you say? Sign us up. Playing on the famous &#8216;I&#8217;ve accidentally run to Windsor line&#8217; from the cult TV show, the real-life <a href="https://dobby-club.com/products/run-to-windsor" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><em>Peep Show</em> marathon</a> takes place on 12 Oct, starting in Croydon, aka the home of Mark Corrigan (David Mitchell) and Jeremy ‘Jez’ Usborne (Robert Webb), before winding up at Windsor City Centre where Super Hans (Matt King) famously ran to by mistake. Actual Big Mad Andy (Liam Noble) from the show will be driving around a support ‘men with ven’ van to cheer you on throughout. What a laugh, with all proceeds going to Mind charity.</p>

<p>Swapping his budgie smugglers for sparkles, Maidenhead native Tom Dean has officially been announced as one of the contestants hankering for the coveted glitterball trophy on this year&#8217;s Strictly Come Dancing. The news dropped just days after Tom swooped gold at the Paris Olympics in the Men&#8217;s 4x200m Freestyle Swimming Relay. No rest for the wicked, eh? Let&#8217;s just hope his tango is as good as his front crawl!</p>
