<p>Obsessed with Spielberg and Tom Hanks’&nbsp;<em>Masters of the Air</em>&nbsp;on Apple TV right now? The beady eyed among you may have recognised Heston’s&nbsp;<a href="https://www.hindsheadbray.com/news-and-events/masters-of-the-air-in-bray/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hind’s Head</a>&nbsp;as one of the stars of the show. The interiors of the groovy boozer in Bray saw a blast from the past, transformed back into its 1940s heyday and served as the 100th Bomb Group’s<strong>&nbsp;</strong>pit stop for a couple of pints. Afterwards, they even had a friendly skirmish with the British along Church Lane. Cheers to that.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-wonka">Wonka</h3>

<p>A-listers can&#8217;t get enough of Berkshire filming locations. Mapledurham is a chocolate box village right on the Berks/Oxon border so it&#8217;s no wonder it was chosen by the <em>Wonka</em> crew to set up shop. The area was once home to the Michael Caine World War II thriller <em>The Eagle Has Landed</em>, but now the sleepy village is back on the map with several flashback and childhood scenes of Willy and his mum shot at the Mapledurham Estate.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-boys-in-the-boat">The Boys in the Boat</h3>

<p>Hollywood hottie George Clooney is a local legend with a home quaintly nestled in the picturesque village of Sonning. His latest directed movie – a true-life story of the University of Washington’s rowing team who, against all the odds, took gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics – came out a few months ago, starring Joel Edgerton and Callum Turner (<em>Masters of the Air</em>&nbsp;and Dua Lipa’s beau) flexing their muscles in tight lycra. Clooney and his crew could be spotted filming at Dorney Lake as well as Berkshire’s&nbsp;Winnerish Film Studios. <h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-bridgerton">Bridgerton</h3>

<p>If there&#8217;s anything that will get you hot under the collar, it&#8217;s <em>that</em> sizzling wedding night scene. Guess what? It was filmed in Berkshire &#8211; Dorney Court to be exact where you can even get married in real life. Cheeky. The production team also trotted over to The Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club early in season 2 where the Bridgerton family makes an appearance at a horse race. </p>



<p>Additionally, Basildon Park was used as a filming location for one of the big evening party sequences. The shoot took a whole week to prepare for filming and 5,000 artificial flowers were brought in to fill the rose garden with summer blooms, and more greenery and foliage was also added around the back of the house. Rumour has it upcoming season three &#8211; due to be released in May &#8211; was also filmed here so keep your eyes peeled.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-queen-charlotte">Queen Charlotte</h3>

<p>Berkshire is stacked with gorgeous country manors and estates, the impressive Ditton Manor near Slough being one of them. The historical pad was once a favoured estate in the era of Henry VIII’s family so it was only fitting it was used as the German childhood home of future Queen Charlotte. As well as <em>Bridgerton</em>, Dorney Court also makes an appearance in the show &#8211; a film star in its own right, used to film numerous shows and movies including <em>Bohemian Rhapsody</em> and <em>The Personal History of David Copperfield</em>. In <em>Queen Charlotte</em> it&#8217;s used as the Danbury&#8217;s initial Tudor Mansion home before they are titled Lord and Lady and move to an even grander estate. Yep, it&#8217;s possible. </p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-lord-of-the-rings-the-rings-of-power">The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power</h3>

<p>With a whopping budget of $465 million&nbsp;(£399 million) for Amazon&#8217;s <em>The Rings of Power</em> (the costliest ever), it&#8217;s no wonder <em>The Lord of the Rings</em> spin-off is a visually mind-blowing feast. A part of it was filmed in Bracknell&#8217;s Swinley Forest &#8211; land owned by King Charles himself. In addition, Bray Studios in Windsor served as one of the sets. Fun fact: an electric fire broke out at one point during filming. Who says you need dragons, hey?</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-crown">The Crown</h3>

<p>It&#8217;s safe to say <em>The Crown</em> has had the public in a chokehold these last few years, exploring all the scandal and saucy goss of the royal family with its final season wrapping this past December. Sniffs. Berkshire&#8217;s Wellington College in Crowthorne depicts Kensington Palace throughout various series of&nbsp;<em>The Crown</em> including Princess Diana’s home during her separation from Charles and the backdrop for her infamous panorama interview. Additionally, Englefield Estate near Newbury and Wokingham boarding school, Reddam House, have also been featured in episodes too.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-star-wars-the-acolyte">Star Wars: The Acolyte</h3>

<p>State-of-the-art Shinfield Studios in Reading opened in late 2021, bringing a huge boost to Berkshire&#8217;s local economy while also asserting itself on the Hollywood radar. Due to be released on Disney Plus this summer, <em>Star Wars: The Acolyte</em> was one of the first productions to be filmed here &#8211; a mystery-thriller type series that follows a former Padawan reuniting with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes. Exciting.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-ghostbusters-frozen-empire">Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire</h3>

<p>Another Shinfield Studios filmed picture is<em> Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire</em> featuring Paul Rudd, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, and James Acaster. The blockbuster had a fantastic recent opening weekend and was also filmed at nearby Winnersh Studios in Wokingham too.</p>
