West Berkshire Brewery Taproom, Yattendon
You don’t have to love beer to visit West Berkshire Brewery Taproom. It’s surprisingly family-friendly with a superb beer garden, rural views and simple menu.
There are a lot of lovely country pubs in West Berkshire with pretty beers gardens and gastropub menus, so a brewery on an old dairy farm with a bar and kitchen is something a little different. West Berkshire Brewery Taproom is first and foremost a brewery, but the cool, laidback vibes of the The Taproom has attracted a crowd of beer loving hipsters, locals and families. Yep, families. It doesn’t sound like the sort of place to hang out with the kids, but really it is.
Why? The space is huge, so there is plenty of room to accommodate children (inside and out), dogs and grown ups without anyone raising a disapproving eyebrow. The views across the field are pretty foxy and the rustic industrial decor give it a London feel without being too try hard.
As the name and locations suggest, they’s big on beer here, with their own ales and craft beers, alongside limited editions that you get to sample first. If a pint of the amber nectar is to your thing, then there is small selection of wines, spirits and soft drinks available too. As for the food, think posh burgers, pimped up pizzas, salads and sharing boards of cold meats and cheese. Basically comfort food. With a smily service and a good kids menu, it’s ideal for a family meals, meet ups with the gang or casual date nights.
