Let’s be clear from the start, The Shurlock Inn – part of the Rarebreed Dining Group of boutique restaurants and cocktail bars – is a meat-eaters paradise. Their passion is premium British steak cooked over fire on Robata grills. The beef is aged in house for up to 40 days, hand cut by the chefs and basted in seasoned Wagyu fat to create an intense flavour. Licking your lips yet?

Daily specials boards feature bespoke, larger butchery steak cuts including Chateaubriand and the 1kg Tomahawk. If you’re really treating yourself, upgrade to Surf and Turf and add lobster or prawns to your plate. Enjoy Fillet and Ribeye cuts, and the signature Steak Tartare or handmade Highland Wagyu burger. Pair your meal with English sparkling wines, artisan spirits and handcrafted cocktails.

If you’re eating with a group, consider planning ahead and preordering from the group dining menus. If you’re there on a Sunday – you know what I’m going to say don’t you? – it’s surely got to be a roast, which is exceptional. 

The restaurant, lounge and cocktail bar are beautiful, relaxed and inviting spaces. The lounge is in the oldest part of the building so think traditional wood panelling, exposed brick and fireplace. There’s a lovely garden and terrace too complete with outdoor bar. You can book indoors or the garden for private parties and events – a surefire way to impress your guests.
