Old Boot Inn, Stanford Dingley
An 18th century country pub in a pretty Berkshire village. Expect superb food, a large garden and a friendly vibe. The perfect spot for a post walk pint.
The Old Boot Inn in Stanford Dingley – between Reading and Newbury – is a much-cherished pub with the rustic vibe this 18th century inn deserves. Think Windsor chairs, muted wall colours, mixy-matchy furniture and a large garden to enjoy your drinkies en famillie.
It’s a strongly ‘local’ pub in the best sense of the word, where you can just pop in for a drink but also eat well if you’re inclined. This is all down to current landlords’ Rebecca and Andre’s unfaltering hospitality. You’ll find pub classics with a few modern British surprises, lunchtime sarnies and a weekend BBQ menu throughout the summer.
The garden is a massive draw with a kids play area to give frazzled parents some much needed R&R. In the winter, settle in front of one of the roaring fires, grab a glass of wine and get your country cosy on. An enormous stretched tent currently occupies part of the garden for everyone to get their pubby outdoor dining fix from 12 April.
