The Dew Drop Inn, Hurley

Relaxed, homely, and fronted by a Michelin-starred chef, The Dew Drop Inn is a slice of foodie heaven tucked away in idyllic, rural paradise. Hungry yet?

Like a home away from home, The Dew Drop Inn is an enchanting, unpretentious 16th century pub tucked away in Pudding Hill, near Maidenhead, (yep, it’s as cute as it sounds). The interiors are warm, and cosy with exposed beams and open, roaring fires – perfect for a wintertime hunker down. In the summer, there’s a huge beer garden too. But really, it’s the food that does the talking.

Having saved the pub from closure in January 2023, dream team duo, lauded chef Simon Bonwick – who has a Michelin star to his name – and his wife Deborah took over the space, and ever since have been serving up a mouthwatering menu of quirky, seasonal British fare with a hint of French je ne sais quoi. If Simon wouldn’t eat it, he won’t serve it. It’s good, classical cooking at its finest and the kitchen is a proper family affair. Simon’s son Charlie is chef de cuisine, meanwhile Simon himself acts as chef-patron.

The menu changes often, with most of its well sourced ingredients coming from France or some of the UK’s best independent suppliers. Welfare meat and sustainably sourced fish from the British isles is king here. Cracking roasts are available on Sundays – comfort food done right.

As you wait for your nosh to be lovingly prepared, expect warm and highly personal service (often by Deborah herself) and a carefully curated wine list to keep you more than content. Taking it easy really is the mantra. Whether for date or mate night, or a special occasion treat, it’s a true slice of foodie heaven – featured on the Michelin Guide 2023 – with something to please everyone.
