The Bull Inn, Stanford Dingley

A gorgeous 15th century pub in the West Berkshire village of Stanford Dingley. Expect log fires in winter, a large garden in summer… and food worth going out of your way for whatever time of year it is!

Looking for an idyllic country inn with reputation for great food? Mission accomplished. Programme Sat Nav Susie to Rg7 and head to The Bull Inn in Stanford Dingley. This 15th century pub with rooms is nestled in the centre of an idyllic West Berkshire village – and is fast becoming a destination pub for foodies, walkers, locals and peeps seeking a little slice of country life.

Chef owner Richie Sanderson took over The Bull in 2018, overhauling its interiors and menu to offer crowd-pleasing dishes that showcase great cookery and quality ingredients. It doesn’t disappoint.  There’s a laid-back buzz that deftly accommodates everyone from drop-in drinkers and bar snackers to casual diners. Pop in Tuesday to Thursday and you can tuck into the excellent value three-course menu for just £20. The Sunday roast is a goodie and they cater for carnivores, veggies, vegans, and kids.

Settle in front of the roaring fire, hunker down in a nook, or enjoy the huge garden on sunnier days. If you’re looking for a bed for the night, five rooms (all with gun cabinets) are available to rest your weary head. It’s a pub to have on your must-visit list.

Richie also runs gastropub The Bladebone in Chapel Row and events company, RS Catering & Events – so is well practised in stylish catering for the masses.
