Pizza, pasta, and all your carb-fuelled dreams will come true at Mio Fiore – an absolute beauty of an Italian restaurant quaintly nestled on Newbury’s Market Street. It’s cosy, buzzy, and seriously tasty, but then again, you’d expect nothing less from an authentic, family-run eatery that takes the food of its motherland seriously.

The fare is traditional, with a menu of dishes from across Italy’s regions that utilise seasonal and local produce. Lust for crust? You’re in for a treat. The pizzas are to die for – all 100% handmade and baked in their wood oven. The dough is matured overnight which makes for easier digestion (hm, hm, no need to unleash the trouser buttons when the carbs begin to pile on here).

The guilt-free feasting continues with the pastas, meats, fishes, starters, puds, and weekly specials, all there to tempt you into a foodie reverie. Plenty of veggie and gluten-free options are also available, and the list of Italian wines is pretty special. But it would be a crime not to mention Mio Fiore’s coffee – a full body, thick hazelnut coloured crema, and an irresistible bold aroma, available to both buy by the bag or drink on your visit. They make their own tomato sauce too – a major best-selling item to go and simply deeeelicious.

In case you can’t get enough, there’s a Mio Fiore Café in Hungerford which is superb in equal measure. Everything on the menu is available to order online for collection, 6 days a week, and if you fancy a bottle of wine or a cheeky aperitive to go with your meal, they can organise that too. Bellissimo!
