The Greene Oak, Windsor

A Michelin rated country gastropub in Windsor that’s surrounded by great walks and offers fuss-free, fabulous food that’s very family friendly.

Outside the touristy throngs of Windsor town centre, you’ll find The Greene Oak gastropub. This modern inn is a Michelin-rated foodie destination in its own right, with a lovely sunny garden, surrounded by trees and fields, and a couple of fun and funky horsebox tables on the terrace.

What it lacks in rolling hills and rivers it makes up with quirky style points. The atmosphere is relaxed, the food is unpretentious. In fact, they’re not afraid to let it be known they don’t do tiny portions, deconstructed dishes, frills or foams – just superb food. It’s what they are all about.

The dishes are crowd-pleasers with pizzazz, they offer a simple but fabulous kids menu, an impressive three-course set lunch, brunch and the Sunday Roast is legendary. Sooo much to choose from to suit every discerning diner, there’s little not to love. Definitely check out Shellfish Saturdays – fresher than fresh seafood platters served with a glass of sparkling English wine. Perfecto!

LEGOLAND Windsor, Windsor Castle, Ascot Racecourse, Eton College and the River Thames are nearby if you’re day tripping in the area. Essentially, it would be rude not to make a beeline for this culinary pit stop.
