<p>Staying in may well be the new going out as Peter Wright’s much-admired production of&nbsp;<em>Giselle</em>&nbsp;is now available to watch on the brand new Royal Opera House streaming service from the comfort of your living room. In one of the most romantic ballets, this 2021 recording features a stunning cast of Royal Ballet Principals including&nbsp;<a href="https://muddystilettos.co.uk/national/royal-ballet-principal-dancer-yasmine-naghdi-interview/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">our pal Yasmine Naghdi</a>&nbsp;as the titular Giselle. <p>It may arguably be a bit early for a Christmas movie, but it’s never too early to see Lindsey Lohan in a rom-com again. Giving all the Cady Heron in&nbsp;<em>Mean Girls</em>&nbsp;vibes, (but without the literal mean girls), Lohan plays Sierra Belmont, a spoilt heiress who loses her memory after a tragic and also rather amusing ski accident. She is taken in by Jake, a wholesome inn keeper played by Chord Overstreet, who some may recognise from&nbsp;<em>Glee</em>, where she learns what’s really important in life just in time for Christmas (altogether now ahhhhh). The first of many new festive releases dropping into our TV screens from now until New Years, for those who have your decs up already – enjoy, for those who don’t believe Christmas starts until December 1st – pop&nbsp;<em>Falling for Christmas</em>&nbsp;on your watch list until then.</p>

<p>Our efforts to lure James Cordon back to UK screens seem to be working slowly but surely as his new comedy drama series <em>Mammals</em> hits Amazon Prime this week. Cordon plays Jamie Buckingham a high-end chef, (we know awkward right given his recent faux pas in a US restaurant), whose life starts to unravel after tragedy strikes his family. Very quickly he’s out of the frying pan and into the fire as, while trying to open a new restaurant, Jamie discovers his pregnant wife, Amandine, played by the gorgeous Melia Kreiling (<em>Tyrant, The Last Tycoon</em>), has been having an affair (*gasp). It’s a far cry from soggy omelettes and the Smiffy we all know and love, but Jez Butterworth’s nuanced script really helps Cordon bring his tortured anti-hero to life.</p>

<p>Grab your spurs and saddle up the horses because you&#8217;re in for quite the ride with the epic <em>The English</em>. Emily Blunt stars and produces this epic Western series, where she plays Lady Cornelia Locke out for revenge following her son’s murder. It’s pistols at dawn when conflicted Pawnee scout Eli Whipp, <em>Twilight’s</em> Chaske Spencer, accompanies Locke on her revenge mission while he settles a few scores of his own. With an impressive cameo from Rafe Spall (well worth the wait as he doesn’t appear until a few episodes in), <em>The English</em> is surprisingly tender and humorous which goes some way to balance out the frequently bloody parts (well, it is a Western).</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><em>Tulsa King,</em> Sun 13 Nov, Paramount+</h2>

<p>Sylvester Stallone teams up with producers of <em>The Sopranos</em> and <em>Yellow Stone </em>for this new mob crime drama series hitting Paramount+ on Sunday. Stallone, the Tulsa King himself, plays Dwight Manfredi (or “The General” to you and me) who, after a 25-year stint in prison, is exiled from New York by his mafia boss to set up shop in Tulsa. Taking this as major disrespect, Dwight rallies together an unlikely crew of his own and starts a new criminal empire. The expected mafia related violence is peppered with some (much needed) humour in <em>Tulsa King</em>, and it’s great to see Sly on form again in a performance you won’t want to “forget about” (said in our best Tony Soprano voice).</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><em>Save Our Squad with David Beckham, </em>Wed 9 Nov, Disney+</h2>

<p>Expect a rollercoaster of emotions in this docu-series as David Beckham goes back to his East London roots in a bid to rescue the Westward Boys under 14s football team from relegation (if anyone can, Golden Balls can). The series follows the kids, their families, the coaches and the highs and lows of the season, to be honest it was Becks which piqued our interest here (*swoon), but it’s hard not to fall in love with the kids too. The kinda cheesy, heart-warming midweek viewing, we love.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><em>The Big Brunch</em>, Thu Nov 10, HBO Max</h2>

<p>The delightful Dan Levy hosts this new cooking show and there’s not an ‘Ewww David’ in sight. A group of 10 budding chefs battle it out over brunch, and with a whopping £300k in the coffer for the lucky winner, things are inevitably going to get heated. Levy is joined by chef Sohla el-Waylly and restaurateur Will Guidara who will judge the culinary contest, a blend of tension, emotional whirlwinds and innovative hunger-inducing cooking (we recommend watching on a full tummy). </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><em>Zootopia +</em>, Wed 9 Nov, Disney +</h2>

<p>The beloved characters from the Oscar-winning movie <em>Zootopia</em> are revisited in this six episode series aptly names <em>Zootopia+.</em> Kids will love seeing the likes of Fru Fru, Priscilla, Gazelle and Flash again while adults will enjoy playing the guess whose voice this is game (you may recognise the dulcet tones of Idris Elba, Kristen Bell and Ginnifer Goodwin among others). Each episode focuses on a different region of this weird and wonderful world which makes for inclusive, easy family viewing.</p>

<p>Love it or hate it, the addictive and hotly debated new series of <em>The Crown</em> hits Netflix this Wednesday – after a two-year wait). Hold onto your tiaras as this season delves into the lives of the British monarchy during the 90s (*eek) including THAT interview between Princess Diana and Martin Bashir, an overheard telephone call between Charles and Camilla referred to as “Tampongate” and So. Much. More. With a brand new (and rather exceptional) line-up of royal doppelgängers including but certainly not limited to Luke Evans as Charles, Elizabeth Debecki as Diana and Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth – Peter Morgan&#8217;s new series is set to get pretty explosive.</p>
