Oh so suave Damson Restaurant is the latest fine dining destination to open in Berkshire, having swung open their doors in September this year. Following year-long renovations, head chef Henry Kremer-Ireson (previously of highly accredited Henry and Joe’s in Newbury) has transformed the space into an urbane foodie haven, serving up tantalising set and taster menus – a surefire feast for both the eyes and belly.

In what used to be the Winterbourne Arms, mosey inside and you’ll find a tastefully decked out but simple interior with sophisticated exposed brick, roaring fire, soft bench seating, and moss green hues. With just 26 covers, it’s incredibly intimate and the relaxed and down-to-earth approach to service means nothing is over-complicated. The aim here is humble and refined with a pinpoint focus on flavour. Because really, it’s the food that does all the talking.

Expect ingredient-led fine dining at, well, its finest. Think squash and egg yolk ravioli, cod loin, and bavette steak with charcoal emulsion, all masterfully crafted and presented with both precision and passion. The 7 course tasting menu changes seasonally and is only available Friday and Saturday nights. On Wednesday and Thursday nights, a mid-week menu is offered as well as a 3 course lunch menu, plus vegetarian and vegan options are also available. With an ever evolving offering, you can be sure no two visits will ever be the same.
