Super flashy newsflash!

Want to be in the know? Of course you do. And have I got news for you!

Bongggggg, bonggggg. And here is the news…

On your Marks, get set…

Yup, the spinky spanky new Lexicon shopping centre in Bracknell is coming on a treat – and I can reveal that M&S will open in July! It will offer suped-up womenswear, menswear, kids, home and beauty departments. Plus a large foodhall and a 140-seat café. For the record, the SS17 fashion is really good. M&S has had a pretty turbulent time in recent years, but there’s plenty of blinkin’ gorgeous bits that will undoubtedly sneak into my basket (alongside the obligatory new bra and knickers). For starter this entire outfit. Looooving the bag £39.50 and kaftan, £45. Watch this space. marksandspencer.com

The big splash

Do you want the good new or the bad news? Good new first, always! Get set for the glam slam, because we’re getting a luxe lido in Reading. The bad news, it doesn’t open until October. I’m thinking Shoreditch House, Soho House NYC vibes, me  lounging, eating and drinking… hmm. The pic, above, is of Bristol Lido, a similar renovation project completed by the same peeps reviewed by my Muddy mucker Sue in Somerset – and it’s a gem. Thames Lido (as it will be called) will be the nipped and tucked old King Meadow Swimming Baths featuring a pool, hot tub, treatment rooms and steam room plus a restaurant and bar with views of the pool. I’ll keep you posted. thameslido.com

Coffee with George

My name is Rachel and I am a coffee addict. I simply cannot function without a few shots first thing in the morning (don’t judge, it could be vodka). So I am dizzy with excitement to learnt that Nespresso is opening a store in The Oracle in June. A boutique pop-up is currently operating outside Victoria’s Secrets while the new shop is being fitted out. It will sell capsules, obvs, machines and accessories. And I’m thinking George and I can share parenting tips over a double espresso. When his Amal gives birth to the twins, he’ll need a little parental support (and coffee) and I’m happy to make the sacrifice. nespresso.com

When the crowd’s say bo selecta

A day at the races rarely involves a hats, mini bottle of Moet and a flutter on the gee-gees. Oh no, what do you do when you have a tipsy crowd, suffering from mild sun stroke, throw a party and get the pros in to make some noise! On Aug 12, Ascot’s 17th Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup will bolt on a party in the paddock featuring Craig David, All Saints, Feeder and Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills. Book em up, tickets start at £33. ascot.co.uk

In need of ginspiration?

My love of gin is well documented, so it’s with much excitement that Gin In The Park is coming to Maidenhead on Sunday 2 July. Think sunshine (fingers crossed), gin, and free entry for the family (seriously? Do you think the kids will be OK?). Organised by Shabbytique and Eat On The High Street, it’s all happening at Guards Club Park in Oldacres and promises s bit of swing, opera, jazz and rock n roll.  There will also be picnic areas, kids entertainment (phew) and did I mention gin. It’s not called Mother’s Ruin for nothing. gininthepark.com

Jump up, jump up and get down

Let’s bounce, the new Red Kangaroo trampoline park in Reading opened yesterday. I’m not going to lie, it’s much like any other trampoline you’ve come across, but and there is a but, this one comes with a Wipe Out style game, some funky looking party rooms and there will be clubbing in the form of Kanga Nightlife. Yes all right there’s lots for the kids big or small. But back to the grow ups because bouncing doesn’t come with an age limit. You’ll find Red Kangaroo off the Portman Road. Let me know what you think. red kangaroo.co.uk

Funky new bar. Hello!

Here at Muddy, we love a new bar/ restaurant, so we got pretty excited when we heard The Botanist is coming to Reading! You’ll find it on Kings Street, fast becoming a foodie quarter of Reading, and it open on Monday 29 May. A cool interior is guaranteed, judging by the brand’s other locations in Marlow, Manchester, Newcastle and Chester. The cocktails are legendary and the food is kid-friendly. So finally somewhere we can all eat without someone having the hump. I’m off to the launch party on Thurs 1 June, so I’ll let you know what it’s like. thebotanist.com
