Wouldn’t you though?
The way to a man’s heart? Let’s not muck about. BEER. Men like nothing better than to head to their man cave with a bottle of Pigeon’s Nobbly Whipcrack and a Steven Segal movie, only surfacing to ask if there are any more Pringles.
So with Father’s Day upon us on Sunday 19 June, I give you the hops-based gift that keeps on giving. Raise a malty, frothy, glass to Beerbods.
It’s a brilliant idea, in which your dad will receive a box of 12 different beers. Each week on a Thursday night everyone with a subscription samples a specified bottle from the 12 and shares their thoughts via BeerBods online community, and gets the story behind that particular beer (which just so happens to be Lovibonds this week, based on the Berks/Oxon border in Henley!). So it’s essentially a beer tasting club, and at £36 for 12 weeks including p&p, it works out at less than £3 a pint. Bargain.
My husband and my dad have both been lucky recipients of a Beerbods subscription recently (all in the name of research – boy do they love my job!) and they have both absolutely loved it. Thursdays in our house are now ‘Beer Thursday’ and Mr P certainly has a spring in his step when he comes through the door.
So to all the dads, old men, fathers, pops and poppas. To the grandpas, uncles, responsible (and irresponsible) guardians and Godfathers. For all the early starts. For all the worrying. For all the help with DIY. For all the lifts. For all the words of wisdom. For being ace. The least they deserve is a beer every Thursday night at 9pm.
