Super flashy newsflash

Let the good times roll in Berkshire. While summer's taking a hiatus, console yourself with some social titbits. Lucky us.

Cliveden Lit Fest, 14-15 October

Book up, book up! First the spa was fancy pantsed; now Cliveden is holding its own literary festival. Unsurprisingly given the history of the stately home, the festival’s themes are high politics and low scandal; the influence of brilliant women and the role of history in the movies; the Munich crisis to the Russian revolutions and the rise of Zionism. The authors include Howard Jacobson, Sebastian Faulks, Amanda Foreman, Daisy Goodwin and Ruth Rogers.  See the full programme here.

You’ve got to love a new shop that’s sooo different from anything else, that it shines bright like a diamond. Say hello to B The Lifestyle Shop. It’s a celebration of simplicity, design and quality. Not in a pretentious kind of a way, in a cool, time-saving, vision of loveliness with Scandi vibes. Doors fling open Thursday 10 August at 10am. Pop in and see Emma Bees the owner and check out the gorgeous, women’s fashion, homeware, gifts and cute kids stuff.

The Lexicon Bracknell, Thurs 7 Sept

We have a date people – Thursday 7 September at 10am the super-swish multi-million pound shopping mecca that is The Lexicon will do a mass ribbon cutting. M&S is already open, but we’re excited to see the new Fenwicks with its denim and shoe studios plus it will stock Charlotte Tilbury – a beauty brand much loved by Muddy. Others to look out for? Seasalt, Topshop, H&M, Kiki plus Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Bill’s, Coast To Coast.

Coral Reef Waterworld, Bracknell, latest update

Concept image of the new Coral Reef swimming pool with 5 slides and a modern cafe

Sick of seeing water yet? Let’s forget about the rain for a minute and focus on the £11million renovation of Coral Reef Waterworld. The project is nearing completion and there’s talk of a September opening. In the meantime, the five slides are being given their names. First up we have Storm Chaser – float down in a raft and the ride emulates a ship battling in rough seas. We also have the gentler Aqua Splash. Adults slide with their young children, immersed in a colour and sound.show. Watch this space for more news. It won’t be long now.
