Bolshoi Live: The Sleeping Beauty, Corn Exchange Newbury, Sun 22 Jan

Is there anything more lovely than watching the ballet? Apart from a date night with Ryan Gosling, I’m gonna say no. Breathtakingly beautiful to watch with dreamy music, if it were a pudding it would be Peach Melba. And it doesn’t get much better than the Bolshoi performing Sleeping Beauty – even on the big screen. The famous fairytale is brought to life with the help of Tchaikovsky’s music, the purest style of classical ballet with the most luxurious costumes and set. A must-see. Buy a tub of ice cream and settle in at 3pm, tickets £14.50.

Purple Zeppelin, Norden Farm Maidenhead, Sat 21 January

Head nodding and hair flicking obligatory for a night with Purple Zeppelin. Melody Maker described this band – playing tribute to rock giants Deep Purple an Led Zeppelin – as brilliantly authentic. So if you fancy a high octane show using the same stage costumes, guitars and equipment as the original bands, check them out. Brace yourselves, there’s some audience participation too. Tickets: £16.

An Evening with Brian Blessed, Mill at Sonning, Sun Jan 22

Boom! Brian Blessed in da house! I LOVE Brian. A colossus of stage and screen he is an acting legend. That voice. That laugh. That Beard. All fabulous – *I hear you, stop gushing*. This week he’s performing a one man show at The Mill (and he’s not taking a fee so all proceeds go to the theatre). Add ‘nice guy’ to the love list. You’ll get to ask the great man questions about his career from I Claudius and Flash Gordon to Star Wars and Cats. He’ll probably want to talk about his recent gong from Her Maj too and the Agatha Christie play he’s directing at The Mill later this year. Tickets are £80 including dinner.

Dreamboats & Petticoats, Theatre Royal Windsor, Wed 25 Jan

With La La Land putting us all in the mood for a dose of theatrical sunshine, it is timely that Dreamboats & Petticoats The Musical is opening at Theatre Royal Windsor. Featuring loads of hit songs from the Rock ‘n’ Roll era, I imagine they’ll be a lot of toe tapping and shoulder jiggling during performances. I’d go just for the full skirts and big hair.
