<p>Bring out the red, white and blue. Not long to go now until the <a href="https://www.royal.uk/coronation-weekend-plans-announced">Coronation Concert</a> on Sun 7 May and it’s going to be spectacular! Berkshire’s picture perfect Windsor Castle will be broadcast to some 100 countries around the world as, for the first time, the East Terrace plays host to all the action. New images reveal a cool abstract Union Jack and multiple levels for the 70-piece orchestra and band plus four catwalks and Windsor Castle as backdrop for the main stage. Hosted by actor Hugh Bonneville, stars taking to the stage include Take That, Lionel Richie, Katie Perry, Olly Murs will take to the stage, while Tom Cruise, Dame Joan Collins, Bear Grylls and Sir Tom Jones will appear via video link. Land of hope and glory indeed.</p>

<p>From the coronation of our current King, Rabble Theatre’s award-winning production of <em><a href="https://rabbletheatre.com/henry-i/">Henry I</a></em> – tells the tale of the royal spare becoming king, the power, politics and rivalry. A centuries old story but feels so 2023. The play will premiere at Reading&#8217;s Abbey Ruins from 13 June to 1 July, before transferring to the historic Winchester Great Hall (12-15 July), then London&#8217;s Covent Garden from 20 July. Written by Beth Flintoff and directed by Hal Chambers, the production is recommended for those aged 12+, book your <a href="https://rabbletheatre.com/henry-i/">tickets</a> here. </p>

<p>For something a little different, also in Reading, but out of this world! This is Artist Luke Jerram’s famous installation <a href="https://whatsonreading.com/gaia">Gaia</a> will be exhibiting at at Reading Town Hall! Featuring NASA high resolution imagery of the Earth’s surface, Gaia&#8217;s seven metre globe, aims to create a feeling of awe for the planet. It&#8217;s part of part of the Reading Climate Festival which focusses on Reading&#8217;s bid to reach <a href="https://whatsonreading.com/climate-pledge">net zero by 2030</a>. <p>Meanwhile, <a href="https://www.southhillpark.org.uk/shp-events/the-festival-of-food-and-music-2023/#:~:text=Fresh%20food%2C%20live%20music%20and,unmissable%20event%20for%20all%20ages.">The Golden Festival of Food and Music</a> is back and best of all it’s completely free! Hosted in South Hill Park, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, there’s a fab line up of live music including local artists and tribute acts &#8211; think Elvis, Little Mix, Beyoncé and Madness &#8211; plus loads of fantastic food and craft stalls. There’s also drop in crafting sessions for youngsters including clay and painting and several drama performances by HandMade Theatre. There’s no need to book, just turn up on Sun 7 and Mon 8 May between 11am and 6pm. Pray for sun shine! </p>
