<p>This brand-new post-watershed drama from Channel 4 focuses on the life of Jolene Dollar, mum-of-three and pro porn actress (and you thought your job was hardcore!). This four-parter stars the brilliant Hayley Squires, who you’ll know from the BBC adaptation of&nbsp;<em>The Miniaturist</em>, as well as a whole raft of fab Brit actors including Rupert Everett, Kerry Godliman and Joe Dempsie. Packed with smut (obv), so save for when the kids have gone to bed.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Welcome To The Blumhouse: Black Box and Evil Eye (Amazon Prime, 6 October)</h2>

<p>Spooky season is upon us, so expect plenty of terrifying TV and films drops, kicking off with this collab between horror-centric production company Blumhouse Television and Amazon Studios. The first two (of four) upcoming new films land on Amazon Prime this Tues 6, starting with&nbsp;<em>Black Box</em>&nbsp;and<em>&nbsp;Evil Eye</em>. Double-check the windows locks, switch off the lights and prepare to watch through your fingers.</p>

<p>Agatha Christie, but with a twist. In this feature length film,&nbsp;<em>Cold Feet</em>‘s Helen Baxendale plays the woman herself, who plans to sell her final Poirot novel ‘Curtain’ to a private buyer to get out of financial hot water with the help of shifty broker Blake Harrison (who you’ll know from&nbsp;<em>The Inbetweeners</em>). However, The Blitz strikes and the pair are forced to shelter in a hotel basement with an ensemble of quirky characters. Hmmm… I wonder what happens next?</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>The Rest of Us (Netflix, 7 October)</strong></h2>

<p>Heather Graham stars in this drama directed by Aisling Chin-Yee, about a woman who takes in her ex-husband’s mistress and her daughter after his death leaves them homeless (much to her own teenage daughter’s disgust). If you like&nbsp;<em>Dead To Me</em>&nbsp;(also on Netflix), this should appeal.</p>

<p>The spooks continue! Loosely adapted from the classic Henry James novella&nbsp;<em>The Turn of the Screw</em>, and made by the producers of&nbsp;<em>The Haunting of Hill House</em>&nbsp;(to which this is touted as a spiritual successor), this series centres on an American nanny hired to take care of two creepy English orphans in the titular Bly Manor. Binge it over the cold autumn nights.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Bloodshot (Sky Cinema, 9 Oct)</h3>

<p>This sci-fi action film based on a best-selling comic book and stars Vin Diesel doing what he does best – namely, a lot of punching, shooting and smashing up the place. Main character and U.S. Marine Ray Garrison is brought back to life with new superpowers by a sketchy organisation (helmed by Guy Pearce) who want to use him as a weapon.</p>

<p>A fresh adaptation of the best-selling 1979 novel of the same name by Tom Wolfe, this new eight-parter explores the early days of the US space program and mental and physical characteristics that were required to be a successful astronaut. Patrick J. Adams, Jake McDorman, Colin O’Donoghue, James Lafferty, Aaron Staton, Michael Trotter and Micah Stock star as the Mercury Seven, some of the very few men (and these days, women too, thankfully) that made the grade.</p>
