<p>David Tennant dons Eighties glasses and a skin-crawling persona as prolific serial killer Dennis Nilsen in this true crime-inspired original drama from ITV. Instead of focusing on the murders themselves (which totalled at least 12), the show shines a light on the trial and media perception of the victims, and asks just how ‘Des’ managed to get away with it for so long. Chilling stuff.</p>

<p>More ambitious than your standard psycho-thriller, writer Dennis Kelly’s six-parter&nbsp;<em>The Third Day&nbsp;</em>is set on a mysterious island (filmed on Essex’s own Osea Island) and stars Jude Law and Naomie Harris. As well as the impressive star power, the real draw here is the 12-hour episode created in collaboration with theatre company Punchdrunk, which will be livestreamed on Sky Arts and online, and follows the events of a day on the island in real time in one continuous take.</p>

<p>If you have space-obsessed kids, this’ll float their boat. The second season of this cutting-edge documentary series from The History Channel lands on Tuesday, and aims to delve deep into the mysteries of the universe. Consider it screen time with benefits.</p>

<p>Almost 30 years on, Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter reunite for one of the big sequels of the year – yes, it’s ridiculous but it’s also tremendous fun. Bill and Ted are back, but this time they’re middle-aged, married and have daughters – not that that stops them from time-travelling on a mission to save the world with music. Naturally.</p>

<p>Kit Harington joins the lineup for the second season of this British crime drama on Netflix. Set in the claustrophobic confines of an interrogation room, there are no car chases or bloody crime scenes here, but it’ll still have you firmly adhered to your seat. Four new cases, four new suspects – but who will you believe?</p>

<p>This much-hyped movie is worth watching for Tom Holland and Robert Pattinson’s thick southern drawls alone. Based on the novel of the same name by Donald Ray Pollock and spanning from the end of WWII to the Sixties, this 2 hour 20 minute whopper of a flick focuses on orphan Arvin Russell (Holland) and the violent and corrupt people he crosses paths with in the Ohio town of Knockemstiff. Make extra popcorn.</p>

<p>It’s not often a show has style and horror in equal measure, but if anyone can pull it off, it’s Ryan Murphy and the team behind&nbsp;<em>American Horror Story</em>. Sarah Paulson stars as the strangely stylish Nurse Ratched (not who we’d expect to be our fashion icon of the month, but here we are) in this&nbsp;<em>One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest</em>&nbsp;spin-off. Keep an eye out for celeb cameos like Sharon Stone and Cynthia Nixon.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Long Way Up (Apple TV+, 18 September)</h2>

<p>If you loved&nbsp;<em>Long Way Round</em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Long Way Down</em>, then this will come as a pleasant surprise. Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman are back (with electric bikes this time) to travel from Patagonia to California – a whopping 13,000 miles over 100 days. If you’re longing for a taste of the outside world, this is escapism at its finest.</p>
