Featuring interviews with journalists, historians and friends of the couple who’ve never before spoken publicly this six part series is already causing a stir on social. <p>Kate Winslet takes on the toxic world of social media in this feature length episode of Channel 4’s female led drama series&nbsp;<em>I am…</em>&nbsp;which returns this week. Single mum Ruth (Winslet) becomes increasingly concerned about her 17-year-old daughter, Freya (powerfully played by her real life daughter, Mia Threapleton), and her reclusive and social media-obsessed behaviour. Nepotism I hear you say, well sure, but you’ve got to hand it to them both, they act their socks off in this deeply affecting and timely episode.</p>

<p>Sheridan Smith is always a good idea. Sheridan Smith starring alongside&nbsp;<em>Father Ted’s</em>&nbsp;Ardal O’Hanlan and Pauline McLynn – an even better idea. Rosie Molloy (Smith) is addicted to everything – alcohol, smoking, sex, caffeine, drugs, oh and chocolate oranges. After an embarrassing incident at her brother’s sober wedding, Rosie is forced to sort her life out and (try) to get clean. Written by&nbsp;<em>Two Pints of Lager</em>&nbsp;alum, Susan Nickson, this series is equal measures laugh out loud and sob your socks off and one you’ll definitely not want to quit.</p>

<p>Pause Christmas, pause the World Cup, pause everything as you’re going to want to watch this – Guy Pearce, Damian Lewis and Anna Maxwell Martin fronting a brand new espionage drama. It’s based on the story of real life traitor Kim Philby (Pearce), who managed to evade detection for over 30 years after defecting to the KGB. He even had his fellow spies and close friends fooled, like Cambridge chum Nicholas Elliott, played ever so deftly by Lewis. Coming to ITV’s brand new streaming service, we’re totally here for&nbsp;<em>A Spy Among Friends.&nbsp;</em>Can it just be Thursday already?</p>

<p>In his first movie since the Oscars slapgate scandal, Will Smith is looking for Hollywood redemption with this epic drama based on the harrowing true story of “Whipped Peter,” a real-life escaped slave. The film documents Peter’s escape from forced labour on a railroad and perilous journey to freedom across the Louisiana swamps where he encounters alligators, extreme weather, starvation and the Confederate army. In a word (or two), Smith is utterly breath-taking and we’re not going to lie, this movie’ll stay with you for a long time.</p>

<p>Don your cowboy boots as Jessica Chastain and Michale Shannon star in this dramatic chronicle of country music stars Tammy Wynette and George Jones. Theirs is a fiery love story fitting to many a country ballad (um hello&nbsp;<em>Stand by</em>&nbsp;<em>your Man</em>) and this mini series shows the scope of Jones’s alcoholism, drug abuse and offstage antics which ultimately drove the iconic duo apart.&nbsp;<em>George &amp; Tammy</em><strong>&nbsp;</strong>is a rooting, tooting, boot scooter of a show!</p>

<p>No it isn’t breakfast, but it is another Christmas romcom (tis the season and all that). Zoey Deutch and Shay Mitchell play Rachel and Vanessa who get caught up in a fateful engagement ring mix-up when their respective others swap their little blue bags by mistake. Of course this mishap throws the women and their relationships into turmoil – will the new year bring them love, wedding bells or break up hell?<em>&nbsp;Something from Tiffany’s</em>&nbsp;is an easy watch with many laughs especially from Jonica T. Gibbs who plays Rachel’s friend Terri.</p>

<p>More than just another period drama –&nbsp;<em>The Confessions of Frannie Langton</em>&nbsp;is a murder mystery. Based on Sara Collins’s book of the same name, the titular Frannie, played by up and comer Karla-Simone Spence, recalls events which led to her being jailed and accused of double murder (gasp). From her beginnings on a Jamaican plantation and being gifted to the wealthy Benham family, to her love affair with Madame Marguerite Benham (<em>Kingsman’s</em>&nbsp;Sophie Cookson), find out whodunnit and prepare to have your bustles well and truly jostled!</p>

<p>Guillermo Del Torro’s fantastical mind is at it again in this animated (and borderline creepy) version of&nbsp;<em>Pinocchio</em>. Co-directed by Mark Gustafson, (known mainly for Wes Anderson’s&nbsp;<em>Fantastic Mr Fox</em>), and with celebrity voices aplenty (hello Cate Blanchett, Ewan McGregor, David Bradley, Tilda Swinton and Ron Perlman), this adaptation is altogether darker than the recent Disney remake and perfect for those wanting a break from Christmas schmaltz.</p>

<p>Prepare to dream that American dream as Apple TV’s anthology series continues, revealing the stories of people who’ve emigrated to the United States. Inspired by eight real life stories from Epic Magazines photo essay series, each episode explores the motives, backstories and experiences of each person which range from cheerful baseball batting and feathering hats to the frankly heartbreaking. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry but&nbsp;<em>Little America</em>&nbsp;is an eye-opening must.</p>

<p>BBC iPlayer welcomed this gritty crime drama last month and we’re now all aboard the&nbsp;<em>Tokyo Vice</em>&nbsp;train (we’re ok with being fashionably late when it’s&nbsp;<em>this</em>&nbsp;good). Baby faced baby driver, Ansel Elgort leads the series as journalist Jake Adlestein who begins work on a prestigious Japanese newspaper as their first foreign hire. He quickly becomes embroiled in the violent underworld of the yakuza, but to break his story could prove deadly. Tense stuff we know but worth the emotional rollercoaster and communal OMG’s!</p>
