It’s back! The Muddy Awards 2017

Roll that drum, my Mudsters! Dig out your Dior, polish that crystal and put the champers on ice, because the Muddy Awards are rolling into town. We want to shout from the rooftops (hard in heels, but we’ll give it our best shot) about Berkshire’s indy businesses in all their quirky, unmissable, glorious erm, glory – from food producers to destination pubs, fabulous theatres to fashion boutiques.

The awards are the bees knees, the dogs… ahem, you get my drift, previous winners include Best beauty salon, A Beauty Revolution in Wokingham, Best wine distributor, The Tasting House in Reading, and Best interiors, The Wonky Donkey, Crowthorne.

Last year was our first year of awards in Berkshire but they’ve been going for five years in Bucks and Oxon and this year they’re running simultaneously across 18 counties including, of course, Berkshire – so grab those ear defenders because there’s going to be some serious buzz.

Anyone can nominate a business and entry is gratis, nada, free as a bean; time to pull on that fetching Philip Treacy number and think about who should be up for an award.

Nominations open at Muddy Berkshire from midday, Weds 3 May and are open until Fri 26 May 2017. When the nominations goes live, you see a Muddy Awards 2017 section on the website. Simply click on it, fill out the special online form so you can vote during this first round. If you’re a business who’d like to get involved ask a friend to nominate you and you’re away.

We then count up the nominations we’ve received and produce a top 5 under each category based on the quantity of votes received in the first round.  Then we enter round 2 which runs from Weds 7 – 14 June. We invite all Mudsters to go into a refreshed voting page and cast your vote for your Muddy Awards 2017 winner of each category.

Many of the 26 Muddy Awards 2017 categories are niche, deliberately included to help the cool, small indie businesses who don’t get a look in during bigger, more traditional awards, so *please-please-beg-weep-please* take time to scroll through them and vote in as many categories as you can. It could make all the difference to a brilliant local business.

Winners will be announced on Weds 14 June.  They will receive a unique Muddy Stilettos certificate, Awards window rosette and lots of help gaining coverage in regional and social media. Please see below for the full list of categories.

COZZIE Restaurant in Woodley Precinct continues to be the best place to eat by a mile. The staff really know how to give attentive (but never annoying) service and the food is always delicious and beautifully presented. My husband and I always go there for a breakfast at the weekend, along with other visits.
For regular customers they have a loyalty ‘money off’ card, which can be used at any time of the day.

I would like to nominate- Best self storage small business – A4 self store Maidenhead – raving Google reviews – they take the stress out of moving and storage. Small business built by original owner who gives back and supports local community and charities. Very proud of my husband

Unfortunately we don’t have a self-storage category. But when we do, I’ll give you a shout. Congrats to your hubby though. In the meantime, vote for your favourite places to eat, drink, shop etc on Wednesday. x

HI there! I’ve had a few people ask me whether they can nominate Concertini for an award but I’m not sure we fit into any of the above categories. Maybe you could give me a shout if you decide to introduce a Best Children’s Business x

Hi Julia, Oh I love what you do. It was Children’s business last year but we felt it was too broad. We have Best Family Attraction category, why don’t you enter there. xx
