On your marks, get set… Crimbo

Avoid the OMG panic shop by getting in early. All I want for Christmas? Tom Hardy wearing nothing but a bow but I'll settle for this little lot from Camp Hopson.

I know we’re not mentioning the C word, but we’re all thinking about it. I’m an annoying early bird shopper – everything bought and wrapped by the 1st week in December. It just gives me more time to enjoy the Christmas spirits – nightly drinks dos, Ibroprofen chasers and even one or two carol services (plus the eldest Mudlet’s birthday).

Mr MS is the exact opposite – he attacks December like a man who’s abstained from drink for 12 months and then bombs off to the shops  at 3.30pm on Christmas Eve. This tactic has mixed results – desperate sale purchases, dodgy smellies and power tools have all made it to Christmas Day. It’s no wonder the divorce rate is so high in January.

This year, will be different. I’m giving him a ‘do not stray’ wish list and hoping that 20% off (almost) everything will lure him to Camp Hopson in Newbury for its Christmas Party (Thursday 2 November 9am-9pm). Glass of bubbles, Father Christmas, big tree and models sashaying through the store… Actually, forget it, just hand over your credit card and I’ll buy my presents too. But where’s the fun in that? I hear you cry. Not having to take anything back in January! Woohoo. It’s hard to narrow it down, but her are my faves…

Christmas gift edit by Muddy Stilettos – Camp Hopson Newbury

Top row, from left: HallHuber embroidered satin bomber, £99; Bobbi Brown lipstick in Plum, £24; Whistles black leather tote, £225. Second row: Chanel Gabrielle, from £79; Whistles khaki metallic skirt, £149; Jo Malone candle, £44. Bottom row: Lulu Guinness lips iPhone 7 case, £36; Stackers jewellery box, from £25. Dune Leopard print shoes, £80.

For me, my festive wish list has to be frivolous and fabulous. I love this HallHuber satin bomber – not too shiny, bit of embroidery in a wearable colour. I’d not heard of this label before. It’s German, but does a great line in quality ‘classic with a twist pieces’, I think it would look great with this Whistles (a new label at the Camp Hopson) khaki pleated skirt and Dune leopard T-bar shoes. If there are three things that will always win me over it’s a bottle of Chanel perfume, a Jo Malone candle, luxe make-up – sealed with a Lulu Guinness iPhone case kiss.

Everyone else? Oh go one then, here’s a few things that’ll be going in my basket…

For him…

Tom Ford Noir, from £79; Gant Airtight Down Jacket, £250 and 6 O’Clock Gin, £19.95

If he smells good, looks good and has the chance to pour a large gin… ding dong. I’ve overlooked Gant in recent years but they have some great gear but this is a cool coat and there’s loads of tech that goes into the design so you know you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck. You can’t go wrong with Tom Ford, his scents are sexy and sophisticated. Tick. And 6 O’Clock?  Well, it has a reputation for being smoother than your grandma’s velvet cushions, so I’m not going to say no.

For littlies…

If there is one time of the year when I try to avoid plastic toys projectile vomiting out from under the tree, it’s Christmas. It’s hard to avoid, but there’s an amazing selection beautiful wooden toys like this Janod Story Box Circus, £24.99. And Pebbles the Penguin will be giving you the take me home eyes. Who can resist? Normally £19.95, you can buy him for £9.95 (when you spend £35) and 10% will be donated to the Honeypot Children’s Charity.

For the grannies…

You can’t beat a soft knit for the nanas and a great bag. This Hobbs ruffled high neck sweater with just enough sparkle is a beaut, £99. And a classic Longchamp Medium-sized tote in this season’s hot to trot red. Winner winner.

For your best mate…

Urban Apothecary diffuser, £35 and Cyberjammies PJs, £41

Not forgetting your bestie. Give your knackered mates the gift of the best night’s sleep – soft PJs and a room that smells like a spa. If someone gave me this Urban Apothecary room scent and Cyberjammies PJs set, I’d know they had my back.
