5 kick ass fashion brands
In the mood to splurge? Stand out from the crowd and make a fashion statement with these lush labels at Fifi & Moose.
At Muddy, our editors are just as obsessed with Zara, but sometimes you don’t want to be wearing the exact same thing as your mates – the mantra ‘twinning is winning’ can just get plain awkward. In fact, spending a bit more on statement pieces will add wow to your high street wardrobe. While you might consider yourself a British fashionista and know your MiH from your M&S, here are 5 kick ass brands, stocked by the awesome Fifi & Moose in Newbury, that you need in your life. Owner Alison Goodman has a knack for finding lesser known labels… ready, steady… shop.
It’s cashmere season, and there’s nothing I won’t do for a cosy, cool knit. Nothing! Jumper 1234 was founded by a group of pals to create a collection of no-fuss, core pieces that look great and feel even better. Born in London and bred in Mongolia: the designs are very British – a little bit edgy and fun – and produced in Mongolia where the world’s best cashmere is made. AND it’s only machine washable. Hallelujah! Available in sizes 1, 2, 3 and 4 (clues in the name, wink wink).
I am obsessed with this Belgian brand. It’s a little bit quirky, fun and beautifully made. Having started out as a basic T-shirt collection in 1999, Essentiel Antwerp today is a colourful ready-to-wear brand that injects a little glamour into everyday attire. The collections are packed full of patterns and colour with cute design details to make you stand out in a crowd. It’s a band that makes you feel fashion forward without feeling ridiculous.
I’d never heard of Ottod’Ame until I’d rifled through the Fifi and Moose rails. The first thing you notice is that the cut and quality of the fabric is amazing. It’s a Italian label with all the fashion flair you would expect from our European cousins. Each collection’s unique, with a polished feminine flare. Their philosophy is to design individual pieces that bring out each woman’s personality and style. The PJ top and pants are a fave form AW17 and was seen on one of the more stylish TOWIE cast, Pascal Craymer, during London Fashion Week.
I’m not going to lie, Beatrice.b is not cheap. But if you have the spondoolies to spend, then take a peak at this elegant Italian label. The quality is top notch and I totally fell in love with this navy wool coat with faux fur collar, sleeves and pockets. It’s beautifully cut, would last a lifetime and makes you want to stroke yourself all day (no sniggering at the back). The devil is in the details – classic shapes with a pop of fabulous. Check out the dress with pleat inserts with the velvet boots. A…may…zing.
There was a time when comfort was not the most important thing when buying a fabulous shoe. Not so much now. Ali introduced me to Spanish brand Alpe – known for quality, design, affordability and shhhh… comfort. On trend, but not achingly fashion forward, you would get long term wear out of their footwear. The Alpes knee length suede boots are pictured above, but I couldn’t resist inviting a few of my other faves to this accessories party.
