Thameside Rum Company
Rum just got sexy. With the swagger of Tom Hardy and the taste of a Caribbean sunshine, Thameside Rum's Signature Blend is our new obsession.
Scratch the yo-ho-ho piratey clichés because rum’s just got sexy! Think Tom Hardy in Taboo, sauntering off his boat after a long, torturous journey with only a bottle of the good stuff to keep him warm at night. *Ahem* While we can’t serve up Tom, we can offer you a seriously smooth Caribbean rum blended on the banks of the River Thames.
Thameside Signature Blend is the first release from this relatively new Berkshire brand which was established in 2018. This a Windsor-based small-batch rum is produced to centuries-old standards found in London’s 18th century blending houses. Each of the Caribbean rums (from Jamaica, Barbados and Guyana) are made from scratch from sugar cane molasses, using traditional methods. They are then left to age in old bourbon casks. It’s bursting with Caribbean flavours: tropical fruit, banana, coconut, charred pineapple, subtle spices and light oakiness.
In terms of presentation, I love the stubby bottle with chunky cork stopper. Perfect for grabbing with your teeth and discarding – I’m here for the drama. Where’s blended rums are generally dark in colour, Thameside is not, due to the fact the batches contain no added sugar, flavourings or colourings. It a smoother drink for taking this different approach and is a worthy addition to the Muddy drinks trolley. Available to buy from the online shop, £39; or Master of Malt and The Whisky Exchange.
