Plum Cottages is a two-bed, two bath cottage next door to The Fat Duck – Heston Blumenthal’s three star thriller and within staggering distanced of his one star gastropub The Hind’s Head. It sleep two-four people and us aimed at peeps who want a weekend escape sans the kids and furry dependents. Door height is low, so mind your head. Once inside there’s a super posh boot room with a orange velvet sofa and colour-coordinated vintage Penguin classics. The lounge has a big squishy sofa and fire. There’s a kitchen which open onto a rather lovely courtyard garden. Upstairs you’ll find a large master bedroom with en suite. Hello freestanding bath his and hers sinks. There is also a stylish second double with a shower across the landing.

This recently refurbished Grade II listed cottage is a dreamy base to explore the many foodie haunts in the village. Alongside Heston’s gaffs, check out Alain Roux’s The Waterside Inn, the Muddy Award winning Caldesi in Campagna and the Crown at Bray pub.
