My Little Green Wardrobe

Buy kids clothes and help save the planet. My Little Green Wardrobe offers a cool colllection of brands, chosen with style and sustainability in mind.

Sustainability is the hottest word in fashion retail. It’s an industry driven by trends, fast fixes and in some cases less than squeaky clean production practices. But the key to sustainability success is progress not perfection – BUY LESS, BUY BETTER. Great when you’re an adult. Not so easy with kids. They grow. ALL. THE. TIME. Say hello to Berkshire-based My Little Green Wardrobe.

My Little Green Wardrobe is an online kids clothing site founded by former BBC journalist turned entrepreneur, Lucy Todd, out of frustration at the lack of sustainable clothing options for her daughters. When kitting out her eldest for school (and knowing lots of the items hardly get used), Lucy tried the preloved route, but her online lucky dip failed to deliver. Her last resort was to buy new – but green, requiring a Google and Instagram deep dive.

Some of the brands she discovered make their pieces from recycled plastics and high grade organic cotton. Others have focused on fairer working conditions and high ethical and environmental spec. Lucy tells me that there’s a lot of small businesses doing great things, but everyone’s at a different place on their sustainability journey.

The good news for us, is that Lucy is doing all the research so we can shop with a clear conscience for kids aged 0-6. Polish that green halo. What I love about the collections is that the clothes are unique, cool and beautifully made. Yes they cost a little more than some high street names, but they’ll last longer, can be passed down to younger siblings, or sold as preloved.

Check out the Turtledove eco rainwear, Lily & Sid’s cute cord and chambray outfits and Tobias & The Bear’s animal print with a difference. But there are many more under the radar brands to discover. The collection is so gorgeous it would make Sir David Attenborough weep.
