Draco Floristry, Newbury

Muddy says: Attention all bouquet lovers and brides who hate toeing the line – Draco Floristry is a florist and wine specialist with an edge. It’s only rock’n’roll, but I like it.

Draco Floristry shop Parkways Newbury black sign floral hoop display

A brand new florist in Newbury with a rock ’n’ roll approach. Draco Floristry offers edgy floral displays, alongside French fine wines and luxury scented candles. A creative concept of up levelling the love. How cool is that?

Owner Shakirah Whyte trained at the innovative London Flower School (run by flower powerhouse Wagner Kreusch) and that training is evident in her work, using classic techniques without being constrained by them. The results are extremely creative, with lots of texture and movement.

As for the wine, well Shakirah LOVES wines from the Burgundy region and hand picks bottles for Draco from small vineyards. This is not just a wine o’clock obsession, she really knows her stuff and has several WSET wine qualifications under her belt

As for the shop, well you’re gonna love it. It’s like a glam boudoir of happiness – green velvet chaise, House of Hackney wallpaper, surrounded by flowers, bottle and bottles of wine and own range of hand poured scented candles.

Brides who are looking for something a little quirkier than your trad beautiful-but-bland bouquets should make a beeline for Draco Floristry, where the staff are buzzing brilliant ideas – plus she can source very special wines that you’ll always associate with your big day.

She also provides bouquets and bottles of vino for individuals as well as displays for corporate clients and parties and can dress photoshoots. So many florists play it disappointingly safe in my experience so it’s great to welcome such a vibrant, modern, creative business onto Muddy’s Little Black Book. Blooming marvellous.

Lovely shop with very nice flowers . Drawback being that they are not sold individually . Bouquets do not really look right in the kitchen ( in my opinion)
Would be nice to be able to buy the long stemmed unusual for Newbury type flowers to fill large vases at home.

I always love somewhere that does things a bit differently. Sits nicely next to the more traditional florists.
