Craft Coop Maidenhead
Muddy says: looking for a gift that’s a bit different? This Maidenhead social enterprise store is as chic as it is irreverent, with much of its stock crafted by clever locals.
Craft Coop is a shop, a truly local shop, that stocks chic but irreverent products made predominantly by crafty mums who work from home, local artists and artisans. Naturally we love a women-centric start-up here at Muddy – and the fact it’s a not-for-profit social enterprise is the cherry on top.
It gives over 150 makers the chance to sell on the high street without the crippling overheads. So when you buy something, rest assured, the biggest chunk of the money goes to the producer’s pocket. How brilliant is that?
There’s something for everyone at Craft Coop – from beautiful handcrafted jewellery, luxury local candles, funky screen printed bags, quirky homewares, wry greeting cards, cool crafting kits for kids and grown ups, skincare and so much more. Each piece comes with its own story. We likey a lot.
It’s also worth noting that all the producers take turns to run the shop, so if you’re popping you to buy something, the chances are you will be chatting to the clever sausage who made it in the first place. Once you’ve entered the coop, you’ll struggle to get out without buying. I certainly didn’t.
Craft Coop also have a free crafting table for kids to get busy with the glue and glitter while you shop and can also host crafting birthday parties for kids who love to make. Nice alternative to the trampoline parks and soft play.
