Bel & The Dragon, Windsor
A friendly pub offering quality, unpretentious food close to Windsor Castle. The perfect spot for Meghan and Harry's pre-wedding shindig.
If you’re looking for a relaxed pub, serving tasty plates of food, then look no further than the Bel & The Dragon Windsor. This historic restaurant and tea room has been serving food and drink since the 11th Century, but there is nothing old fashioned about this place.
In the shadow of Windsor Castle, The Bel & The Dragon is within staggering distance of Windsor and Eton train station, on the approach to the river and Eton Footbridge. The royal credentials attract a lot of tourists, but with a great selection of shops (Whistles, Sweaty Betty, Zara etc), epic walks, the Theatre Royal and a pop-up ice rink – it’s certainly shaking its pom poms at you to get your attention.
Inside is a bright, light vision of modern rustic loveliness – with a number of comfortable nooks and crannies, furnished with well-worn English antiques and knick knacks – more curiosity shop then co-ordinated. It’s casual, cosy and very chic. Obligatory roaring fire to warm yourself up from the cold and Manager Rosie and her fab team catering to your every need.
Kids are welcomed with open arms. The relaxed atmosphere is perfect for frazzled parents to park up with their midgets. Under 12s have a choice of healthy little dishes throughout the week. Book a scribble table for Sunday lunch (between 12pm – 1pm) and you can all enjoy a relaxed meal without anyone complaining ‘I’m bored’.
Keep your eyes peeled for special events, supper clubs and the awesome ‘Kids Eat Free’ run during half terms.
