Astor Grill at Cliveden House Hotel, Taplow
Cliveden House's old stables are home to its relaxed, cooler sister restaurant, The Astor Grill, serving up crowd-pleasing US and British classics fresh from the grill.
Tally ho it’s off to eat we go. The Astor Grill is the funky, sister restaurant at Cliveden House, located in the charming old stable block, which once housed Lord Astor’s most prized fillies.
Adopting an equestrian theme in its décor, The Astor Grill is full of character offering a simple and informal approach to dining at Cliveden.
The menu is overseen by head Chef Paul O’Neill and it focuses on a mixture of American and British classics, many reminiscent of Cliveden’s diverse owners and residents.
The name – The Astor Grill – recalls the Astor family, who owned the house from the early 1900s. William Waldorf Astor, America’s richest citizen, then gave the house to his son and daughter in-law, Nancy Astor, in 1906, and Cliveden became a vibrant social hub for guests as diverse as Charlie Chaplin, George Bernard Shaw and Winston Churchill.
Today, this relaxed restaurant is a cosmopolitan venue which is steeped in history, its romantic setting offers all the style and legendary hospitality that Cliveden is famous for, and it is the perfect place to escape and enjoy a leisurely meal, offering a vegan menu alongside the regular menu.
The restaurant will reopen for alfresco dining from 12 April. Book inside from 17 May.
