A gorgeous Property Flirt
Here I am back again, your Fairy Property Godmother, sprinkling superb square footage, hot tubs and underfloor heating everywhere I go. Yes peeps, it’s the Flirt Alert, time for you to kick back with a cuppa and nosey through the corridors and cupboards of another gorgeous pad in our monthly Property Flirt feature.
You know the score – I’ll drop you the odd clue then you get the old cogs whirring and guess the price. I’ll let you know how close you got. Easier than a Sunday morning. Prize? Uh, let me get back to you on that. Right then, let’s take a look…
So, welcome to Dower House. it’s a pretty stunning Grade II listed house set in immaculate formally landscaped gardens in Taplow. Moments down the road is Cliveden so you’re in good company – in fact it’s easy to get the two confused. Hey, we could be onto something here – charge £2 for parking in your driveway and £28 for a scone and a cup of tea and people might never even notice the difference.
Anyway, a bit more about the locality – within the village is a pub and excellent infant/primary school Nicholas C of E. There’s a Sainsbury’s within easy reach on the A4 Bath Road and you’re closest big towns are Maidenhead and Windsor. Shoptastic.
Time for a bit more house. It’s set over three floors and definitely has elegance stamped all over it’s high ceilings and sweeping stair cases. Let’s start with the ground floor…
Off the ‘goes on forever’ hall, you have this beautiful sitting room…
And a drawing room with fireplace and French doors opening onto the terrace. Aren’t they gorgeous rooms?! Pets and children will need some serious ground rules before entering.
There’s a huge kitchen with central island, breakfast seating and all those integrated goodies hiding behind those rather smart Shaker/Country style cabinets. I also spy an AGA so I can confirm, you have 100 per cent arrived in the country.
Just off the kitchen is the dining room, with doors out to the garden – how blinking fabulous?
Upstairs on the first floor there’s an immaculate master bedroom with garden views, superb en suite with roll top bath and dressing room (*squeal!*) plus three further bedrooms (one en suite – the kids can rock, paper, scissors for that, or mud wrestle) and a family bathroom.
But saving the best for last… I did say there are three floors, and it’s not upstairs, oh no, there’s a lower ground floor with another bedroom, shower room, utility and… wait for it… wine store! BOOM!
The gardens of The Dower house are the real clincher though. A gravelled pathway leads you up the terraces – perfect for some outdoor entertaining. The terraces are surrounded by these amazing Renaissance gardens with mature hedges keeping nosey neighbours at bay, and tucked away at the back are two potting sheds and a vegetable garden with raised beds. Have a little wander and I’ll see you in a minute…
Who needs Cliveden when you’ve got gardens like that?! A few more nuggets to help you on the price front – rail access is good with services to London Paddington from Taplow or Maidenhead and Crossrail due to start running in 2018. Plus, you’re just off J7 of the M4.
So, fancy buying yourself into this life? Yeah me too (*dabbing eyes gently*). But how much will it cost you? No cheating – work out the price you think it’s worth, consult, lay your bets and see how close you get. Then check on where your nearest bank is and start planning your raid.

2.7 million is my guess. Wish I had the money!
I wish I did too Kathy! Great guess – now check if you’re right. You might be pleasantly surprised… Sx
