When you’re living in the Queen’s ‘hood, homes don’t come cheap but they are grand. This three-bedroom ground-floor apartment in the converted convent of St John The Baptist is an absolute beaut, combining open-plan living with stonking Gothic period features. At a stretch, you could also claim you slept under the same roof as 007. Daniel Craig rented this gaff while filming the Quantum of Solace.

New build six bedroom house 9 acres of land and equestrian facilities rutland

New builds are great for low maintenance living, but the gardens are usually teeny weeny. Not in this case. Crack the whip and head oop north to the hamlet of Ashwell in Rutland, because this modern six-bedder comes with 10 acres of paddocks, all-weather manege and stable block. Rural but not isolated, the market town of Oakham is three miles away and you can commute into London in 45 mins.

white rendered eco house godalming surrey £800k

Godalming is a catnip commuter town – bursting at the seams with cafes, bars and indie shops, surrounded by great schools and it’s a one-hour train chug into London. If you fancy something a bit different, how about an eco party house. OK, so it’s great for families too, but the open-plan living, bi-folding walls and retracting ceilings make the most of the space whatever the weather.

The garden is to die for and if the three beds and four receotion rooms don’t give enough space, there’s potential to extend.

Townhouses often scrimp on outside space, but here you’re getting a decent garden with roses, lavender and fruit trees, as well as an outbuilding.

The Old Granary is a four-bed period family home in Inkberrow (the village that inspired BBC4’s The Archers), with an adjoining listed barn that already has planning permission to be turned into an adjoining two-storey dwelling.
