Spirit of adventure
Festive drinkies, party season or the need for seasonal survival, keep your spirits up and gingle (sorry) all the way to New year with Muddy's fave new tipple, Horse Guards gin.
Gingle bells, gingle bells, gingle all the way… the only way we know to survive the festive season. Drink! A couple of G&Ts and we’re numb to the gift buying (and looming credit card bill), decking halls and onslaught of relatives crossing the threshold waiting to be fed and watered.
Muddy’s always on hand to keep your spirits up. Buckle up, and make mine a double, we’re stocking up on the good stuff, to guarantee we’ll be rocking around the Christmas tree from now until New Year.
Always on the hunt for something new on the rocks, we’ve recently discovered Berkshire-based Horse Guards Gin – made on the doorstep of the Queens’s Windsor Estate in Winkfield. They have created a Premium London Dry Gin, inspired by the extraordinary characters associated with the Household Cavalry’s Horse Guards, including the UK first female press photographer and official snapper of the regiment, Christina Broom.
Although a relative newcomer to the gin market, last year it was awarded a silver gong by the judges at the prestigious International Wine and Spirits Competition and has got rave reviews for being one of the smoothest gins on the market, In fact, it’s so good, we’ve discovered it in some of Berkshire’s best pubs. So you can drink it anytime, anywhere.
London Dry Gin
Using a classic combo of juniper, coriander, angelica, orange peel, grapefruit peel and cardamom citrus notes (sling in some orange peel for extra zing).
As Winston Churchill said: ‘The gin and tonic has saved more lives, and minds, than all the doctors in the empire.’ Who are we to argue?
GIN NOT YOUR THING?
Gelston's has been revived by Johnny Neill (a descendant of the brand's owner in the late 1800s, and creator of Whitley Neill and Marylebone gins), this 26-year-old single malt Irish whiskey has matured in bourbon casks for an impressive 26 years.
Tequila it makes us happy, especially when it’s served by gorgeous George Clooney. Casamigos (which apparently means 'house of friends') was his tequila brand (until he sold it last year for $1bn) with a bold claim it won't give your a hangover.
Mount Gay XO Rum
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum it's Christmas. Warm your cockles this Crimbo with a taste of the Caribbean. Mount Gay Extra Old is a blend of the finest, double-distilled, aged spirits with a combined maturity of 17 years.
We’re a sucker for a novelty bottle, and this one adds a whole new meaning to vodka on the rocks. This is a sextuple distilled Bulgarian voddie that comes in a diamond shaped bottle with a genuine precious gem stone. Bling it on.
