Best lunch spots for rocking dads
Dads deserve a little recognition. So spoil him with a pint and posh nosh and show the men in your life they rock!
Golden Ball, Pinkneys Green Maidenhead
Quirky, cool interiors with a menu that will keep everyone happy – large and small. There is also a lovely sunny terrace and garden so space for kids to play and pretty nearby walks. On Father’s Day, dads will receive a free pint and there is a special menu available – 2 Courses for £24; 3 Courses for £30. They’re even doing a Father in laws and step dads celebration on Sun 25 June. Phew! Westminster scale political mayhem avoided.
The Crown at Bray
Heston’s now so famous he only needs one name, but you can never accuse the man of abandoning his passion for great tasting food. His super-relaxed , down-to-earth pub The Crown has had a lush garden refurb and will be serving their Sunday classics Roast Sirloin, Roast Potatoes, Yorkshire Pudding & Roast Beef Gravy, The Crown Burger, Fish & Chips and more…. in honour of all superhero dads. The Bladebone, Chapel Row
Lovely country pub with a nice big garden. They have a great menu with loads of pub classics and a cracking Sunday roast, in a pretty location. If the sun is shining grab a spot al fresco and spend hours relaxing and sinking a few jars. Perfect Father’s Day vibes. If you work up a bit of an appetite, there are plenty of woodland walks or pop down to Bucklebury Farm Park and make a day of it. Open on Sunday from 12pm-6pm.
Bel & The Dragon, Cookham
Great pub, great food and a gorgeous garden and there’s a free pint, Bloody Mary or Sipsmith London Cup for dads. You had me at great. The Bel & The Dragon caters for the whole famalam. Kids menu, light bites from the garden menu or bring out the big guns and go al la carte – the man in your life will be in meat heaven.
The Botanist, Reading
The new kid on the block, but if you want to try something a bit different, The Botanist in Reading is worth a visit. Open for brunch, lunch and dinner, the food is very family friendly with lots of variety in place with glam garden shed decor. The beer list is extensive, so dads will be happy. The cocktail list is also exceptional, so you’ll be happy. And the quirky interiors will keep kids entertained.
The Coppa Club, Sonning
Father’s Day beers and bbq? Hello, it’s got happy daddy written all over it. Local beers, British meat and reclining deck chairs are on the agenda. The Coppa Club is teaming up with the local Loddon Brewery who’ll be showcasing their finest brews and the chef’s will be firing up the BBQ from midday. The BBQ menu will be available for £12. Pray for sunshine because the river location, gorgeous garden and great atmosphere is Sunday bliss.
Royal Oak, Yattendon
The Royal Oak is one of those pubs that really shines in the summer. The walled garden is really sooo pretty, they also serve a fab Sunday roast – and kids and dogs are very welcome. Take your boules set and enjoy a game on their pitch (is that what you would call it?). Want to work up an appetite, there are some lovely circular woodland walks nearby so you can justify a massive blowout.
