5 Spring trends you can wear right now
Ready to shop the new season? We've picked out five trends we love, and all available at The Lexicon Bracknell (or if you can't be bothered to move, online!).
Argh, it’s getting colder not warmer and my hayfever’s already kicking in. BUT let’s be positive. Spring = mega fashion bounty! The shops are awash with delicious new season pieces, so what’s on your wishlist? I had a good ol’ mooch around The Lexicon Bracknell to see if I could scratch my SS19 itch and find something that you can wear whether we’re in single or double digit temperatures. If you haven’t been yet, go go go. It’s now only 18 months old and, right now, has a virtual reality Fairytale & Fables Adventure Trail to keep the kids from wailing ‘I’m bored’. Genius.
M&S Cashmere Jumper
Leopard was big in 2018 and it's prowling the high street big time in 2019. Despite a brief flirtation with double digit temperatures in Feb, it is officially still baltic, so transitional jumpers are a must. You can't go wrong with M&S's fab cashmere – it's affordable (for the quality), comes in a gazillion colours and prints and it's washable. Hallelujah. No more miniature knits the perfect fit for Barbie.
Topshop Denim Boiler Suit
My love of the jumpsuit is a matter of record, but the boiler suit has divided opinions. Me? I'm still all in. I don't care if people shout "Who yer gonna call?" across the street. Or ask if I'd take a look at their U-bend. I'm obsessed. This Topshop boiler suit of dreams has been getting a lot of love on Instagram, and I can confirm it's a keeper. Flattering, easy exit with the zip (essential for loo emergencies) and works with all footwear. Buy it. It will sell out. Topshop at The Lexicon Bracknell had some during my visit this week.
Adidas Continental 80 @Foot Locker
They want there trainers back. The 80s revival is in full swing, but if you've done it once *coughs* then pop that trend on your feet. I'm currently cheating on Stan Smith with Adidas Continental 80, as seen on Hailey Baldwin and Rachel Bilson. They've had a reboot, so are now available in lots of colours that'll twinkle at teenagers but for the rest of us, it's classic white, baby. They are considered one of the hottest trainers right now, so ditch your Vejas for these bad boys.
Michael Kors Floral Dress @ Fenwick
If Barbara Cartland did prairie dresses this would be the one. And it's an absolute beauty in real life. Nothing says spring like a pink floral midi. At £215, it's an investment but one that you won't regret. It would look amazing with trainers, sandals, heels or an ankle boot. Throw on a knit or a blazer and you're good to go. If we're all trying to buy less, buy better then this ticks all the boxes – providing you like pink. But it tickled me.
Next Check Suit
Beige is the new safe word for capsule wardrobe devotees. You have been given permission to release the shackles of navy, black, white and grey for one season. Breathe deep, nude is not for the faint hearted, but this stunning check suit from Next's Emma Willis Collection (it launches tomorrow – Sat 9 Mar) could tick that trend off and work with a gazillion different outfits. Price per wear, makes it a bargain. Plus it comes in 6-22 and three leg lengths.
