The Maplewood Bakery is a small bakery based in Old Windsor run by the talented Eleanor Savoury. She makes beautiful celebration and wedding cakes but has a collection of brownies and a delicious afternoon tea that can be delivered nationwide. Handy if you can’t see the most important women in your life. The Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea includes smoked salmon vol au vents, Coronation chicken in a brioche bun, onion and feta tart, freshly baked scone with jam and clotted cream plus a selection of cakes plus the essential tea element too. But vegan patisserie CocoLico in Reading is here to prove it can be done with bells on. They’re offering a Mexican Mother’s Day afternoon tea menu, £20pp, with tacos filled with refried beans, sour cream and jalapenos, scones, chocolate and chilli macarons and more. If you’re not bothered about the sarnies and want to dive head first into the cake, no judgement here. Blackberry Cottage Bakery, run by Kate Saunders – a former Sports Massage Practitioner working with Olympic and Paralympic athletes’ – has created a selection box of cakes all containing flowers and veg to give each one a nutritional twist. We’re loving the sound of Violet and Pumpkin Slice with Violet Chocolate Drizzle and Rose and Courgette with Rose and Beetroot Icing. The Mother’s Day Spring Cake Box costs £19.50 and can be posted nationwide on the 9th and 10th March.
