Eat here: Michelin Star magic in Berks
Woop woop! If ever there was a call for pants of Bridget Jones-esque dimensions – this is it. our county has done us proud with TWO Berkshire restaurants receiving new Michelin stars in the revered 2017 guide – strap me in and pass me my golden fork… it’s time to EAT!
Yes folks, The Michelin Guide got very funky this year as results were live tweeted from the ceremony in London, and our fab county nabbed a very respectable handful of them!
The first was for the recently renovated Fat Duck in Bray, back in its stride with its original 3 Michelin stars (it missed out last year as the restaurant upped sticks and relocated to Oz). So, there are now just four restaurants in the whole of the UK with three Michelin stars, two of which are in Bray – The Waterside Inn having retained its 3 stars. The third is Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester in Mayfair and the fourth, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in Chelsea.
The second Berkshire restaurant to receive a new star in the 2017 awards was The Crown at Burchetts Green, Maidenhead, run by the amazingly warm and wonderful Bonwick family who posted the most charming and sincere press release on their website after the announcement (have a read). Sooo well deserved. So the scores on the doors in Berks now look like this…

Here’s a quick round up of where the stars are falling in other surrounding counties if you fancy a visit to a destination restaurant in the coming weeks. I’ve put links on the ones previously reviewed on Muddy Stilettos to give you a steer, and I’ll be making my way down the list over the months to come – ‘Show me the way to rooollll home!
