The Jelly Lounge, Windsor

Muddy says: If Sex And the City did soft play, The Jelly Lounge Windsor would be it. It’s a cool kids play centre, with great food, damn good coffee and gin.

Bright yellow button back chair and turquoise blue sofas at the posh soft play centre The Jelly Lounge

If there are two words that every parent dreads, it’s… soft play. Yes, kids love them, but the bad coffee, average food offering and soulless surroundings make it a bit meh for mum and dad. If we’re spending hours in these places, it would be nice to think the grown ups have been given a nod too.

Well I’ve only gone and found the holy grail. Move over soft play, hello posh play. The Jelly Lounge in Windsor is brand spanking new ‘family club’ and, quite frankly, it looks the biz. I wish my house was this stylish, let alone a kids’ play centre.

The Jelly Lounge was created by two local mums, Jenny and Tamar, who whole heartedly believe that families should be better taken care of in a place oozing with fun and where both children and adults can kick back together. No compromise necessary – now you’re talking.

The result is a bright, happy space for kids to play. There’s a baby area for teeny tiny ones to roll around safely and lots of beautiful wooden toys for them the play with. Next door, in the fun factory, you’ll find a wavy and spiral slide, nets to clamber through and staff on hand to make sure everyone’s happy and safe (there’s very little chance you’ll need to clamber up a cargo net). Phew!

Jenny and Tamar were also adamant that The Jelly Lounge should offer so much more than soft play. There are 3 rooms for activities from cooking and crafting to graffiti workshops. They can all be hired out for parties too.

Now the important stuff, the cafe area is full of bright, funky furniture, serving freshly cooked, locally sourced food and damn good coffee. I enjoyed a lush feta salad and it was delish. It also has a gin bar and the host Prosecco Fridays – messing with my dreams. The jaw-dropping moments don;t end there, the loos are magnificent – Scandi vibes, succulent plants, bright orange doors and Molton Brown hand soap and moisturiser.

Serisously it is like no place I have ever been with my kids. I never thought I would say this but soft play, just got cool.

The Jelly Lounge will be putting on different activities for all ages during the school hols and you can pay per visit or become a member. Prices: £6 for 90 mins during term time weekdays; £10 per 90 mins weekends and holidays; £5 Baby lounge and workshops are from £7.
