Forget unadventurous supermarket plonk – if it’s an exceptional bottle you’re after, head to this Muddy award-winning independent wine shop in the swanky Barrs Yard, Hungerford.

GrapeSmith is a wine-lover’s mecca offering a brilliant selection, organised into prices points of Quaff under £10 (well sourced wines from smaller artisan winemakers that are inexpensive yet exciting), Savour, £10-£20 (special wines for special occasions sourced from the world’s leading vineyards) and Cellar, £20+ (delish today, tbutt even better with age – shame we can’t say the same).  Plus you’ll find nestled alongside the wines, is a superb section of craft beers and artisan spirits.

While there’s plenty of wine on offer from regions in France and Italy, GrapeSmith also stocks and has tastings of wines from around the world, including those harder-to-find wines that you might not be able to source yourself.

Barnaby Smith who own and runs the shop has an amazing knowledge of wines which he shares with pride and enthusiasm – and he’ll help you find the perfect wine for any occasion. From perfect kitchen supper and BBQ wines, the perfect wine for a wedding or birthday celebration or gift – stretching beyond your traditional Sauvignon Blanc and at an exceptional price. GrapesSmith also host regular wine tasting evenings and cracking bin end sales, so watch this space.

They’re open Monday to Wednesday from 10am-6pm, Thursday and Friday from 10am-7pm and Saturday 10am to 6pm.
