Disney princess, Belle (aka Faye Ellen) talks to Muddy about the South Hill Park panto, reality TV and more

Black and white image of actress Faye Ellen who will play Belle in Beauty and the Beast panto at South Hill Park Bracknell in Berkshire

As panto fever starts to build (oh yes it is) we managed to grab some time with actress Faye Ellen, who prized herself out of her corset to have yarn with Muddy. Soon to be starring as Belle at South Hill Park’s production of Beauty And The Beast, Faye reveals she’s a fizz-loving, Strictly fan with a thing for Tom Hiddleston. She’s a Muddy marvellous kinda gal…

Let’s have the basics…

Hi, I’m Faye Ellen and I am playing Belle in Beauty And The Beast at South Hill Park. I’m superexcited to get to work. I trained at Italia Conti and graduated 4 years ago. I’ve always been a singer but wanted to learn the art of acting and dance – and I enjoy any job that I get to use those skills. I’m also a bit of a space geek (I love stars) and a serious reality TV watcher.
What can we expect from Beauty And the Beast?
A lot of fun, incredible, handmade costumes, fantastic set, and great characters. You’re in for a treat.
What do you love about panto?
Getting to know you’re cast members and living like a family for a month because of the two show days.
Anything you don’t like?
Am I allowed to say the typical ghost scene!? ‘He’s behind you!’
Fave bit of the show?
I enjoy the whole show but most of all when the show ends and you take your bow and you see the audiences reaction – that makes me feel all emotional and grateful to be doing what I love.
Any rehearsal goss?
Now, that would be telling…
Do you prefer playing goodies or baddies?
Panto is like…(please finish the sentence)
Having one big family!

Your most like which Disney princess in real life?
Night owl or morning lark?
Night owl.
High Street or designer?
High street
X Factor or Strictly?
Strictly – the panel is more honest, I like that.
Heels or flats?
Both – depends on occasion
Fish and Chips or Sushi to go?
Fish and chips
Panto or Highbrow?
Half lager or champagne cocktail?
Champagne, darling!
Tom Hiddleston or James Corden?
What’s your Muddy Mantra?
Be kind always, you never know what someone is going though!
Want to join the panto fun? In addition to the regular shows, there are adult nights on Weds 13, Fri 15, and Fri 22 December; a BSL signed show on Sat 9 Dec and an autism-friendly performance on Tues 5 Dec.
