Don’t sit on the fence, Angie. Not an Elton fan?

Very odd advertisement, especially since he actually not speak to his own mother for years and years and only just made up with her literally just before she died. Bit unrealistic all the happy family stuff!! (and BTW, I do like Elton!)

Not up to usual Christmas standard. Elton fine but where’s the gushy feel good factor.

Definitely different from previous years. Still love the trampolining dog

I enjoyed it but what it’s got to do with John Lewis (+Partners! Now that silly addition is a bone of contension)? No doubt it cost them a fortune and it won’t do anything to sell their goods.

Oh dear. You mean you haven’t treated them to Elton’s back catalogue, Lindsie?

Just an ad for his music, not Christmassy at all .

Funnily enough Susan, tickets for his tour went on sale TODAY.

I liked it. It has a story, it has emotion, it has a child and it conveys the potential of thoughtful gifting! And it might be a welcome alternative to the Santa/snow/reindeer commercials! Just sayin…

Disappointed!!! I agree – just an ad for Elton, I’m sure he will get lots of sales off the back of it – not sure about JL! How sad.

ps I loved Lidl’s response with their ad for a cheap keyboard and brilliant comments!

Disagree – I like it : it’s clever … shows the power of giving … and that we can all sow seeds with young people that can influence their future … at Xmas we all give. Tho might have been better to show a toy / cheap piano not a big one that’s expensive. That would have added extra depth.

Awful. What’s the relevance between E.J. and John Lewis? Considering their footfall is down this year, this advert will not reverse it.

Big big disappointment… not Christmassy at all. Great ad for Elton … certainly doesn’t make me want to support John Lewis. Wonder how much they paid Elton for this ??

Think of all the wonderful things John Lewis could have done with this sort of money instead. Surely old Elton doesn’t need it? Sigh.

Didn’t seem very Christmassy to me, in fact I think it was marginalised. Great for Elton John. Bring on th aah factor with children and animals or/ and an environmental message. People think more deeply of all sorts of issues in the Christmas period.

An expensive waste of money. It does not make anyone want to spend at John Lewis

I love it! I really hope this advert will inspire children (and grown-ups) to take up a musical instrument. A skill that will stay with them for life NOT just for Christmas. Well done John Lewis and Partners!

Just so hypocritical as Elton’s mum went to the papers a couple of years ago to state how badly he treated her, and that they were estranged, and hadn’t even spoken for years. Don’t know how he can be so two faced. Horrible ad, more like a film trailer for his bio-film that’s out soon. Bring back the cute animals on trampolines, or the snowman and his wife, they were glorious ads. This is just for Elton, why??? He doesn’ty need the money or the hype.
