Your essential half-term Muddy (survival) Guide

9 Feb 2017

Half term is looming large, so in the interest of keeping our sanity, here’s my bumper Muddy guide to the coolest activities, day trips and top notch theatre to keep your kids entertained and save you from tearing your hair out. We can do this without the need of group therapy… but wine is essential! It’s always essential. For those of you without kids and don’t give a damn about half term, I have curated an ‘adult only’ guide (not that kind of adult only, keep it clean)  just for you.

Muddy visits: Cadbury World, Birmingham

10 Apr 2016

Yes, I’m well aware it’s not in Berkshire, thank you, no need to write in. But last week we were staying with some good friends who live about an hour from Cadbury World and they suggested we try it. I figured if it was somewhere I was keen to travel to with the kids, then my lovely Muddy readers might also consider it for a day trip. Besides, a day dedicated to chocolate – no need to ask me twice.

Visionary Painter of the Natural World, Stanley Spencer Gallery, 24 March to 31 October

This new exhibition opens today in the Stanley Spencer Gallery in Cookham. I popped in to see the last exhibition with Mr P a few weeks ago and we really enjoyed it, it’s a gorgeous little gallery with a lot to see in a small, stylish space. And there are lots of lovely places to eat and visit in the village including Bel & The Dragon, the Deliciously French deli and the newly refurbished White Oakread my review – plus lots of walks too so you can easily make a day of it.

Get the family outdoors with Treasure Trails

15 Feb 2016

I discovered this brilliant little company called Treasure Trails a few month back when Hero wrote about them on Muddy Oxon/Bucks. I thought it was worth bashing out a quick post about it now because it’s the sort of thing that screams ‘half-term saviour’ and gives you a fun excuse to get kids or rellies out of the house and out into the fresh air for an hour or two.

Family mountain bike trail, Bracknell

5 Feb 2016

Well hellooo there bum cheeks! You’re making yourselves known after our mountain bike trail in Swinley Forest. Someone get me a bag of frozen peas! As you can probably guess, I am most definitely *not* a natural mountain biker. In fact, the last time I rode a bike, I think it was a Chopper (and I don’t mean in a retro way, I mean in 1978).

So it was with more than a little trepidation that I rocked up to Swinley Bike Hub in Swinley Forest, Bracknell with the Muddy Family in tow.
